I recently found our my right ureter was completely blocked. I do not know how long it has been completely blocked but I have had pain there for about three years. I had a stent in for two weeks and it was removed last Wednesday. I had been to four different doctors the last three years and they said it was probably a nerve off of my back since I have deteriorating disk disease. (I didn't have insurance, so they didn't care to find out the problem) Well, I had my son on the eleventh so I got my O.B. to check it out and he found my kidney was blown up and my ureter completley blocked. We don't know if my kidney will start back working or not. Anyway, my question is has anyone gone through this or know anyone who has? I just wanted to know too, what amount of time does it take to cause complete kidney failure to where it will not ever work again? Know any web sites I can look at that I may have missed somewhere? Any help will be appreciated.

I am unsure of some of your questions but to put your mind to ease, you can survive with only one kidney... THe crazy thing is today in Medical Terminology I was learning about kidneys and they told us that as long as it is not cancerous, they will probably not remove it, because the surgery is to hard to do. I hope they find out something and I wish you the best of luck...

Congrats on the new baby!!!

I have had a lot of ureter and kidney problems. First off I kept getting infections when I was in my early 20's (now 50) so I had to have surgery to re-implant it in another place on my bladder. That worked fine for about 15 years then I started getting infections again. ( I was going to a doctor every 1-2 years for check ups to watch). So I was put on maintenance antibiotics for 10 years, just to keep the infections down. It so happened that I went for another surgery in 2000 and during the pre op test they found out my ureter was almost completely blocked and my kidney had swelled up because of it. I went through having 3 stents because everytime they took one out (about 6 wks) it would start blocking up again. I was told my kidney may never return to normal. And to top it off the other kidney only functions 30% because it never grew as I did. But I have been told I could survive on that if I have to. This has been an ongoing problem for many years so if you have one good kidney you should be fine. Just make sure they keep a close eye on it. Try Urology healthboards or google urology or kidney message boards.

My Doctor Told Me the depressing news - "Your Kidneys Are FAILING!"

My worsening kidney disease symptoms included:
- Nausea and vomiting and constant stomach upset
- Passing only small amounts of urine and stopping and starting while urinating
- Swelling in my ankles and lower legs
- Puffiness around my eyes with brain fog and moodiness
- Chronic fatigue and shortness of breath when exerting myself
- Loss of appetite and not wanting to eat at all
- Increasingly higher blood pressure
- Bouts of anxiety and depression
- Muscle cramps which were worse in my legs

That a friend of mine sent me a link to a website (http://NatureHomeCure.com) that helped his Mother. She was just like me, and was suffering with failing kidneys and experienced the same worries and fears I was going through. All I could do was try it and see if it worked.

Here's where the story gets a little strange. Two months later, Instead of my kidneys sliding down the slippery slope of kidney failure and getting progressively worse, they started to get better.

My Doctor could not believe how much improved my kidney function output had increased and my GFR was UP and creatinine levels lower. My kidneys were starting to work again, and removing all the toxins in my body. I got my life back!

Now, I am using this 100% all natural protocol which restored my kidney function and did it naturally, without the use of unnatural man-made pharmaceutical drugs or dialysis. In less than two months my kidneys were on the mend. Now six months later, My kidney's are back to normal again.

Your right kidney may or may not ever function again, I can
t really tell for sure without knowing all of the details. However, assuming the remaining kidney is functioning normally, this shouldn't be too big a deal for the rest of your life. Plenty of people go thru a normal, healthy life with one functioning kidney --we wouldn't let people donate kidneys if this wasn't the case.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

That relies upon. there are multiple issues that could impact your kidney and effect on your dying- in spite of each thing you desire them or a device to do their interest (dialysis) needless to say there is not any longer adequate space (or time) to get into each and all of the considerable factors, yet i'm going to divide the subject concerns up right into some super categories that i will basically make up for the sake of classifying: vascular- the main basic interior the U. S., intrinsic renal and urologic/ an infection. Vascular- it is quite "coronary heart affliction" that is affecting your kidneys. As we age, we deposit ldl cholesterol and different stuff into our arteries. finally they clog. in the event that they clog a coronary heart vessel, it incredibly is a coronary heart attack, if its a ideas vessel, it incredibly is a stroke, if it incredibly is a kidney vessel, you lose some kidney function, and once you haven't any left, you used to die. you will natually lose kidney function via this direction as you age besides. With the introduction of dialysis, people can get some better years, on universal 3-5- i think, besides the fact that it demands dialysis thrice a week or so, lasting for 0.5 an afternoon, with the different 0.5 of the day leaving you feeling susceptible and drained. the suited thank you to shelter your self is to shelter your self from coronary heart affliction: do no longer smoke, eat nicely, shop your ldl cholesterol and blood tension under administration, in case you have diabetes, shop your sugar under tight administration. one concern i could upload to it is to maintain hydrated, because of the fact the above responders have reported. which will shop a competent blood grant on your kidneys, and which will help to maintain them happy. As for the different 2 "communities", nicely, they seem to be slightly complicated to describe, so i'm going to bypass on that for now. you may desire to make sure a physician to have those "cardiovascular possibility factors" I alluded to above observed, and that they could inform you extra approximately different motives of kidney issues...

Kidneys are pretty resiliant organs, if the blockage is removed and the uretur patent, the kidney can begin to function again. Mine did after six years worth of damage to it.
