I have a truck, 93', and I would like to put new speakers in the truck to go along w/the new stereo, ect. But I have absolutly NO idea what one differs from another.
So i'm asking whats a good speaker brand, (not in subwoofers or anything, just good, sounding speakers, & can take the sound i try to give them w/out it blowing.
and i'm asking if there is anything i should know about my stereo system while i'm picking out my speakers.
Thanks.

there are crap speakers and good speakers and great speakers. Usually the price will tell you what you want to know. Are your current speakers mounted in the Doors? This is the biggest problem with car speakers. The continuing opening and closing delivers a shock to the connections and the speaker cone every time the door closes. If you can locate your speakers in another location you will get longer speaker life and better sound. I generally use JBL's but many of the new smaller speakers give great sound reproduction if you are not into the heavy bass stuff. Most good car audio stores will give you good hints. Also remember that if you are happy with your existing speakers you can have them re-coned at half the price of new speakers and they will give you new speaker quality.

Back in the 80s when custom lowered mini trucks were the rage a friend of mine had 2 12 inch subs behind the seat in a Mazda b2000 std cab truck along with some mid range speakers in the door and some tweeters in the air vents. I had a standard cab 87 Toyota and put 4 15s in the bed with a shell and ran mid ranges and tweeters in the same locations as my friend.
