I'm working on a full-size R2-D2 robot, and the resin piece that are blue I painted with House of Kolor automotive paint. I cleaned and washed the parts, primed the parts with primer, and I'm about to paint.

The first time I tried this, the paint was chipping off, and I don't want this to happen again. Is there some sort of clear coat to prevent this from happening?

You have to match the primer to the paint, keep it in the same brand. I would email the company if you have already done that and see what they suggest. Most paint companies have a "help contact us address."
You also might lightly sand the pieces as this will give a tooth for the primer to stick.

Chipping is a primer problem. If you use the right one it should not chip at all...not even when bumped. You may even have to use 2 coats of primer. 1st to stick to the surface and 2nd on top of that the best primer for your paint.

You can use a clear car paint of the same brand to finish your paintjob.
