I want to hear outlooks that AREN'T the typical "you either go to heaven or hell" because that's not what I believe. Give me your own theory, not one that someone else decided for you.

I'm not looking for a certain answer, I'm just trying to see if anyone else has the same idea that I do, so I'm not saying what my view is.

Don't criticize my question, I just want to know what you guys think. This is more of a poll or survey, but it fell under the religion category. It does kind of look like most people who don't believe in heaven or hell just believe in being dead in the ground.
Thanks for actually answering for those of you who aren't criticizing.

I believe that when a being dies their soul travels throughout the universe for a time and then becomes reincarnated in a place and body of it's choosing. The soul goes through many cycles of reincarnation until it reaches the point of harmony (most call this enlightenment) when all lesson's have been learned and the soul has harmonized all the forces that are it's make-up. At this point the soul rejoins the Infinite Forces (my "gods".) (This would be my equivelant of what is commonly called "going to heaven").

My theory is that before there was anything there was God. And God created everything, which if you don't mind I shall call the Physical Universe. And He transcends it. And He created the Spiritual Universe. And He transcends it. And He created other universes, including Heaven, Hell, and realms that I don't know the name of. And He transcends them.
All things created, he transcends. And so He is called the Most High.
Among His creatures, He gave to a race called angels a choice. And some chose to accompany Him. And others chose to oppose Him.
Among His creatures is one of a higher order than angels, called Humans. And to those also he gave a choice. And besides a choice, he also gave them a special privilege...a right to become part of His family.
But a corruption came, and the angels who had chosen an eternity without God influenced and deceived Humans, and Humans suffered a death. And the part of the Human that lived in the Universe called Spiritual died.
And Humans were no longer able to reach Heaven.
But the Most High God bound by His Own Word would not remove the sovereignty he had given, because what gives can not be taken away.
But he longed to save those who would perish to an eternity without God. By their choice they must eventually reside in a place without God at all and that place is the Universe called Hell.
But the Most High God allowed himself to enter the Universe called Physical, through the virgin birth, so that he could reclaim some of those who had fallen away. By doing so,
he was able in his perfection to enter a place of imperfection without destroying the imperfection. And he was able to provide a Way of Salvation. And He restored choice that had been stolen by corruption and deceit. The Way, the Truth and the Life...The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit...the Heavenly, the Physical, and the Spiritual...converge in on person, Christ Jesus.
And some will choose wisely. And some will choose unwisely. But all will be without excuse.

Buddhism teaches that when a person dies they are reborn and that this process of death and rebirth will continue until Nirvana is attained.
Most religions believe that the core of the person, the real person, is the soul, a non-material and eternal entity that survives in the afterlife. Buddhism on the other hand says that the person is made up of thoughts, feelings and perceptions interacting with the body in a dynamic and constantly changing way. At death this stream of mental energy is re-established in a new body. Thus Buddhism is able to explain the continuity of the individual without recourse to the belief in an "eternal soul", an idea which contradicts the universal truth of impermanence.

My theory is that the 'afterlife' is a 'get out of jail free' card invented by people to sell you so that they can get your money and your loyalty to their cause.
If you are mean to your family, commit all sorts of crimes, and do bad things, the 'afterlife' folks are ready to get you forgiven by their God so you can go to a new place and start all over again, after you die.
If there were people who could conclusively prove that they'd lived on earth (or any other planet, or in any other dimension) before, I still wouldn't give myself over to the purveyors of afterlife, because I always think it is better to worry about the here and now instead of what might come later.
Isn't this heaven enough? The richness of the sky, the sensation of touch, the ability to think--this is more than I could have ever desired.

Believe me I've thought this over constantly and as an atheist what I've determined is that there most likely is not an afterlife. However, pieces of you will go on until the end of the cosmos because of the conservation laws of energy and the rest of them, where the energy you put into living life to its fullest will get put into the system and will get used where it needs to be used. I have many more theories than this so you'll have to ask me for them because they are long and hard to describe therefore impossible to elaborate on further in this format.

I don't claim to know what the next will be like, but I suspect it will not be very different from this life because it will be populated by people from this life who have passed on. The mere fact of dying is not going to change anyone's nature. But I hope the place we go to will be a little better than this world because, having been through this life, the people there should have made some spiritual progress.

What a swell thought it is, an afterlife, to live forever, and many millions of human beings have hoped for such a thing across the centuries, but, alas, dead is dead is dead.

Dead people "sleep". "Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt". So strangely said we only know life. One of the first lies told to mankind was "You Will Not Surely Die". We have no immortal soul. Just sleep and resurrection.

I don't really get your question ... you want us to tell you what you believe. Since you already know what you believe, then why are you asking?
If you are looking for a different perspective, why restrict people to only provide theories that you like?
