the environment aint worth saving because no matter wat u do fires happen and deserts happen its just one of those things that u cant stop so we shud protect oursevles againest everything else like insects like mosquitoes and kanker worms and other people that try and hurt us the way i see it only the strong should survive were if ur weak or sick ur taken outback and shot just like the good old days when there wasnt to many people livin in places. now ive read some of the new answers this morning and i think some of u r way off when u spend more money to save the earth were does it come from oh i know taxpayers,i feel that my hard earned money shud be put to better things like roads and tougher laws not nature. also if u put in these kyoto protocal ideas it wud ruin businesses due to the fact that it wud cost more to cut back in such drastic measures in a short period of time, and that wud cost people there jobs which in turn wud create more homeless or people on welfare so tell when u have the big picture in ur mind does it really make sense to cost thousands of people jobs or save the earth in which will die some day anyways just like the rest of us

What do smoking bans and gun control laws have to do with the environment? If we save the environment, we do save ourselves. Air pollution in cities directly affects us in the form of respiratory illnesses and crazy weather patterns cause damage to our buildings and people. None of our rights are being taken away as companies work to produces greener cars or merchandise that takes less energy to produce and uses less wasteful packaging and citizens make the decision to leave a smaller ecological footprint.

I agree with your statement that our rights are being taken away but the statement of (is the environment worth saving)
If the environment is not saved and an alternative fuel found there wont be life on earth as we know it now. But i think we need to get out of Iraq now.

We should focus on the environment through individual responsibility. By saving the environment we are, truly, saving ourselves. With a cleaner, properly functioning planet and a stable environment we will be taken care of.
Simple steps, such as recycling, can be taken instead of harsh restrictions that infringe on our personal rights.

The environment is completely worth saving, and by doing so we WILL save ourselves. I agree that it seems like some of our rights are in the hands of the wrong people, but none of those rights will even matter if we destroy the place we live in.

We are a long way from having to "save" the environment. The environment is far more robust than most people have been led to believe. It is nearly a perfect system automatically compensating for changes in one area with counter changes elsewhere.

Ludacris,
Yes, I do believe the smoking laws are too harsh. But in saving the environment we also save ourselves. I do my part by shutting off my car engine when idling for more than 10 seconds, that way I am not polluting the air.

Of course the enviroment is worth saving! If we weren't working on a safe enviroment to live in, then we may not even be here, too self-absorbed in our own problems to care about the world around us.

you got it backwards .
if we do not save the Environment ,
we will be gone long before the Environment is destroyed completely.
We totally depend on the Environment .
In order to save our selves we have to save the Environment first,We need the water to drink and to grow food with ,we need the soil to grow the food ,we need the air to breathe ,we ned the forrests to profide us with clouds and to keep the climate bearable ,Because we cannot live in conditions like the Sahara.cook in the day and freeze in the night.
