I have my computer hooked up in my living room. I have cable internet. Next week I'll have people staying with me, and they'll be here for two weeks. There's a cable hookup in my bedroom, if I move the computer out of my living room into my bedroom, will I still be able to go online? Is there a way to test this out before I move my desk? Is this something I can do myself or do I need a tech to come over and do it?

Take just the router and plug it in. If you get the correct sequence of lights, then you have internet. If you don't know wht to look for, do this: turn off the modem, then turn it back on and pay careful attention to teh startup sequence of lights, and note which lights are on after it's done. If this happens when you plug it in in th eother room, then there you go. I suspect you wil have connectivity in there, but this will save you from relocating everything if it doesnlt work.

If you have a tv in your bedroom and it's getting cable, you should be able to get internet in your bedroom as well. :)
