If it is, you think he'd strike down some of the real jerks we have on earth with it, instead of nice people.

Well, scientifically speaking, some mutant cells continue to grow and don't undergo apoptosis (Programmed cell death). These cause a tumour, if it's big enough, and the mutant cells spread to other areas of the body.
On a religious basis, I'm not too sure. Why would God cause incessant pain on some members of the population? My dad is a Catholic and he got cancer. He didn't sin, but he still got cancer. Some other members of my family got cancer and they followed God before and after the illness

Cancerous cells form when damage caused by a variety of environmental factors sometimes more likely to occur due to genetic traits occurs to cells in the body usually of major organs such as the skin, lungs, or brain).

Many of these causes would be considered typical affects of aging, such as consumption of unhealthy foods, smoking, drinking, etc.; over time almost anything will cause wear and tear on the body's organs which may lead to cancer. We see more cases today because people have longer life expectancies and a higher percentage of people live in an unhealthy manner (poor nutrition, lack of exercise, and increase in toxins [including radiation and pesticides]).

Simply put cancer is one of the many results of having an imperfect, aging body.

Typically in children it is a result of modern man-made environmental factors and the parents having unwanton genetic traits they pass on to their children (200 years ago many of these kids wouldn't have lived past the age of 5). Thus if these children grow to maturity and have children of their own the problem escalates, people have responsibility when choosing to have children.

One of the consequences that came from the entrance of sin into the world is disease, including cancer. The entrance of sin caused genetic defects which can lead to cancer in children (and adults). Sin leads to the pollution of the atmosphere, radiation, chemicals, improper diets, smoking, and other factors that can contribute to cancer.

Is it God's will that people have cancer? No. That is why one of the things provided at the cross is the healing of diseases, including cancer. I have seen it happen many times when people go to him in faith for it.

Mutations in DNA. Exposure to carcinogens. Stress. Poor diet.

The list goes on. Abnormal cell divisions happen all the time. Healthy immune systems can usually compensate. When they overwhelm the body, we call it cancer.

I agree that it's ridiculous to think that the world was once perfect, and because of two idiots sinning, we now have to contend with diseases and suffering.

It's much more logical and rational to believe that humans evolved, and disease is just a natural environmental limiter.

Every soul shall taste of death; and We test you with evil and good by way of trial. And to US shall you be returned.

God burdens not any soul beyond its capacity. It shall have the reward it earns, and it shall get the punishment it incurs. Our Lord, do not punish us if we forget or fall into error, and our Lord, lay not on us a responsibility as Thou didst lay upon those before us. Our Lord, burden us not with what we have not the strength to bear; and efface our sins, and grant us forgiveness, and have mercy on us; Thou art our Master; so help us against the disbelieving people.

Because we hold in too much darkness throughout our life. Think about this for a moment; how many bad people get cancer? They let things out.

Just a hazard of life on this earth.

Do you want a list? Radiation; chemicals in the air; chemicals in the water; chemicals in the food; too much sun; heredity; injury (yes, it can cause cancer). It's got precious little to do with God, and a lot to do with physiology.

The same reason they die in fires, get run over by buses, get beat by their husbands, fall off horses, have heart attacks, drown, get bee stings, stub their toes, spill the milk... Life in an imperfect world and we're ALL terminal... we're ALL going to die from something...
