I am traveling within the US and would like to apply for a passport instead of using my birth certificate. On the application form, it asks for the countries I am traveling to. Does this indicate that I have to be traveling out of the country to apply for a passport?

Just write "none" there.

No you don't have to be traveling out of the country, and since it takes so long to get a passport these days you are wise to apply anyway. There is a good chance you will need one for domestic plane travel within a couple of years anyway.

No, not necessarily..As far as answering the question on the application; ask them if its okay to put down where you "might" go someday..It's better to go ahead and have one just in case something comes up and then you won't have to postpone your trip because there is normally a waiting period; can be up to 6 months.: sometimes longer..Hope this helps..

No, you don't have to be leaving the country to get one.
Just leave that section blank.

(Hey, you may go someday, right?)
