I have heard of companies that can work on fixing your credit report and raising your score I just would prefer to do it legally if that's possible.

The only thing credit repair companies can do is to dispute negative information. Your creditors have 30 days to verify any disputes, or else it has to be removed from your credit reports. Derogatory information verified as accurate will stay on your credit reports for seven years. This is something that you can easily do for yourself wit out having to pay anyone else.

Actually, those companies can't do anything that you can't do. They just charge you a lot for it. There are several techniques for clearing your credit. I'm sure you can find most of them for free on the web. Based on experience after my divorce, I might mention that most companies only keep your file in easy on-line access for 1 year after your last contact with them. Anything else is archived off to a long term storage which is harder to access. Call each of your creditors and challenge the credit report info. Sometimes it's easier for them to tell the credit company "No Record' than to go though the hassle and cost to retreive the archived file.

Everyone on here will tell you not to let a credit repair company fix your credit since you can legally do it yourself. You can also mow your lawn yourself legally, do your own dental work legally, and represent yourself in court of law - legally. But you will get better results using a credit repair company as long as you can find a reputable one. If you know the credit laws as well as they do, you can get the same result. And I hope you do. You can dispute the information in your credit report and possibly get it removed.
Good luck whatever you do.
