I have 4 dogs the food bowls are all placed several feet away and I supervise all feedings and correct and move a dog to its own bowl if it goes into another, eventually they learn to eat only out of their own.
If you have to put up a barrier or use a crate, I know of more than one food related dog fight that resulted in death for one of the dogs.

Very good question. You have to take control. This is an excellent area to show that you are alpha. At first feed them out of sight of each other. Place the bowl down but do not allow the dog to eat. I to first give the "sit and stay" command then reinforce with the "leave it". When the dog has waited reliably for up to a minute, give the release command, I use "OK". This reinforces that you are alpha. Now you are in control and can control your dogs at feeding time with commands and from there it is easy to control who eats out of what bowl.

They need to eat out of their own bowl. Separate them when you feed. It's not fair to your older dog. If you don't stop this now, fights could be next and you don't want that. Good luck....

You may have to feed them in separate rooms or feed the small one in a crate. When it gets to the point of being too annoying the bigger dog will let the smaller one know. I have a Chihuahua that will eat from my Keeshond,Pit mix and Great Dane's bowls and they all let him know that's not okay. He now eats in his kennel at meal times. Reward the dogs for eating apart.

Separate them. Put the old (larger?) dog's food somewhere that the smaller dog can't reach. Or simply feed them in separate rooms, and only once or twice a day, instead of leaving food out all day.

Feed them in separate rooms or (better yet) separate crates. Or at least crate the little one with its food until the older one is finished. Otherwise somepuppy's going to get hurt.
