Almost All of them were 3.00,,
that was practically "universal".
All were 8" rear end,,
Except K Code 271 HP Hi-Po Mustangs used the 9"
A 3.50 was used in some of the Hi-Perf Mustangs
A 2.83 came on lottsa 6 cyl's
No Dealer Stock came w/ 3.89--those were all Special Order
3.25,,,
I do not know on Mustangs,,,I never saw one???.
That was typically Ford's "Trailer/Towing" Package axle ratio on Passenger Cars back in those days
You can get the axle code off the car's VIN Plate,,
the info translating the codes should be all over the internet
Vast Majority of 289 2V's all had
3.00 Ratio in an Non Locking 8"
Hope that helps

Luckily, I have all three owners manuals, 64½, 65,66 .
so here goes,
64½ book
All 6's 3.20;
All 8's 3.00 including the HiPo
65 book
200 in six 3 and 4 speed 3.20:1
200 Auto 2.83:1
289 2v "C" All 2.80
289 4v "A" All 3.00
289 4v "K" 4 speed 3.89
66 book doesn't list them but I assume they are the same.
You could custom order different ratios too, or even have them changed by the dealer.
To find out what your care came from the factory with decode the data plate, there are decoders on the net and in my Classic Mustang group.
and finally count the teeth to be positve
