the spirit of god.

In the words of the local priesthood: God is the Word, the Son is the Voice and the holy Spirit is the Silence.

To be more concrete God is the source or Creator. He has manifested himself indirectly by creating all we can see and what we cannot see, but this creating goes through various intermediaries. His more direct creations are the Son who is made flesh and the Holy Spirit, which is just that a spirit. Holy means joined with the creator, like crucifix can be made holy by consacration.

Since people are having trouble working well with the holy spirit, most people nowadays can't even detect it anymore let alone commune with it a less subtle approach was necessary to teach people, hence the Son.

The Son is also the new covenant, which basically "changed" the requirements for spiritual advancement from discipline to love, hence refocussing humanity on mysticism instead of magic.

Unfortunately this refocus on the more femine spiritual path was undone by the early christians which wanted to hold on to the male focussed rituals and society Jesus rebelled against.

The function of the holy spirit is identical to that of Jesus. To guide us according to the Creator's plan. This guidance may include protection, visions, healing and transformation and various other manifestations as needed. You may consider the Holy Spirit as an emanation of the Creator, a guide to God's plan, your personal spiritual coach and simply your best friend whom you can confide in and will give you good advice. Many people who work in concert with the holy spirit are not even consciously aware of this cooperation.

Granting the holy spirit is also how the Creator shows his choice in priests and priestesses, alas very few claiming to serve God in this role actually have been appointed by the Creator. Through the Holy spirit guardian angels and other lesser spirits serving the creator receive their instructions.

Godhead.....

BIBLE DICTIONARY
Holy Ghost
The third member of the Godhead and, as the name implies, a personage of Spirit, not possessing a body of flesh and bones (D&C 130: 21-22). The Holy Ghost is manifested in every dispensation of the gospel since the beginning, being first made known to Adam (1 Ne. 10: 17-22; Moses 6: 51-68). The Holy Ghost is manifested to men on the earth both as the power of the Holy Ghost and as the gift of the Holy Ghost. The power can come upon one before baptism, and is the convincing witness that the gospel is true. It gives one a testimony of Jesus Christ and of his work and the work of his servants upon the earth. The gift can come only after proper and authorized baptism, and is conferred by the laying on of hands, as in Acts 8: 12-25 and Moroni 2: 1-3. The gift of the Holy Ghost is the right to have, whenever one is worthy, the companionship of the Holy Ghost. More powerful than that which is available before baptism, it acts as a cleansing agent to purify a person and sanctify him from all sin. Thus it is often spoken of as “fire” (Matt. 3: 11; 2 Ne. 31: 17; D&C 19: 31). The manifestation on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) was the gift of the Holy Ghost that came upon the Twelve, without which they were not ready for their ministries to the world. The Holy Ghost resides in spirit form unlike God the father who Had a body to start with or his son Jesus who received his body when coming to earth to save us from our sins. The reason the Holy Ghost resides in spirit form is so that his spirit can dwell in all of us. Like the sun shine dwells upon the earth at mid day so is the spirit of the Holy Ghost upon all of the people on earth that will live worthy to have him with them.

He is the third person of the trinity (Matthew 28:19); He is our intercessor to God when we pray (Romans 8:26); He is the Comforter sent from God (John 14:26); He dwells in believers (Second Timothy 1:14 and First Corinthinans 6:19). There are many other mentions of the Holy Spirit/Ghost in the scripture, and what His purpose is.

First of all, the Holy Ghost is an actual person, not an it. When referring to the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit, we say "He." The Holy Spirit is the part of the Godhead who lives inside a believer. There are 3 persons in the Godhead. The Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. They are 3 seperate beings, yet all 3 make up the Godhead. He is our Helper, our Guide, He is the one who tells us things, and He is the gift from God. Jesus gave the gift of the Holy Spirit to His disciples when he saw them after He was resurrected from the dead. The Holy Spirit is given to anyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. He helps us to descern, or tell the difference between good and evil. He convicts us when we do wrong, and He reminds us who we are when we are tempted to do wrong. Through Him, we are led into all truth. When you "walk in the spirit" it means that you are walking(or living) in the ways of the Lord. God gives the Holy Spirit "assignments", and He works through us. When we are "called" to do something for the Lord, it is the Holy Spirit who God works through us. I hope this helps you to understand a little better. God Bless.

The Holy Ghost is the third person of the God head, he is the part of God , the comforter that comes to us and directs us in all our ways to the Lord, salvation brings God, as the Holy Ghost within, and we can also have the Holy Ghost or speaking in tongues as evidence of being filled with the spirit. Be blessed!!!

First of all the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is not an it! He is God. He is the third person of the Holy Trinity. The Father Son and Holy Spirit, and by the way they are capitals for they are personal names and He is God!

The Holy Spirit is not the Father nor the Son but He proceeds from them both. He is the Spirit, and He is regenerates man and causes them to be born of the Spirit (Himself), He the Spirit searches and knows the deep things of God, for who knows the mind of God but the Spirit, The Spirit fills all things and there is not one place that the Spirit has not been or goes.

The Holy Spirit, dwells in those who are born of God, born of the Spirit born from above, He lives in them, empowers them to be the witnesses God has called them to be of Christ, purifies their hearts by faith. Cleanses them of sin, speaks to them keeps the relationship that we have with God up to date and personal.

It is the power of God, it is not a person.

Modern Bibles translate "Holy Ghost" as "holy spirit". "Spirit" is, by definition an invisible force. It can refer to a living invisible force such as an angel, or it can refer to a non-living invisible force such as breath or wind. In fact, the words "breath" and "spirit" are interchangeable in the Hebrew language.

God's power, or spirit, is called "holy" because everything God wills and does is part of his holy purpose. He uses his spirit, or power, to accomplish these purposes. He also gives this power, or holy spirit to his servants. Thus, it is by God's holy power, or holy spirit, that they performed miracles that they otherwise couldn't have, such as raising persons from the dead or speaking in languages they otherwise didn't know (please see Acts 2:4).

Today, in modern times, God's holy spirit helps a person to live a godly way of life. Only with this power can a person overcome the sinful tendencies of sin. Galatians 5:22, 23 describe the effect God's power, or holy spirit, can have on a person if they allow it.

Most people believe that the Holy Spirit is part of a trinity. However, the Bible plainly shows that the holy spirit is not a person, but is rather God's power.
