My dad had to get one yesterday. He is in so much pain that he can't move or lay flat. They had to give him 3 pain shots just so he could get in the MRI thing, and we have been waiting for results. How long should this take?

I can only say how fast a report gets to the referring dotor....how long it takes the doctor to get back to the patient, I cannot answer.

Where I work, every imaging report (normal or abnormal) will be faxed to the referring doctor within 24 hours. For most facilities, a report is sent within 24-48 hours. If the radiologist sees something which requires immediate attention, or something grossly abnormal, he will call the referring doctor as soon as he sees the images.

Most hospitals and labs can have the results in a day.
If you have not heard anything by tomorrow, call the doctor who ordered the MRI and ask if they have the results!
I sure hope your Dad gets better soon!
GOOD LUCK!

The radiologist probably read the MRI yesterday or today. Your Dr. should have the results by tommorow. Call your dr

I've had tons of them before. It doesn't take long. A week at the most, but the doctor probably put it in ergent. So, you should have it in a day.

if he's in that much pain. his doc most likely put a rush on it. he may get it back by tomorrow but no more than a week.
