It costs $12 to have a kitten wormed at the vet. I'm sure you can scrape that up. You have to get him wormed. Don't throw your money away at WalMart on that useless stuff. If you can't have that done, you should seriously consider giving this kitten up. You have to be ready to meet his health needs. I don't run mine to the vet every time they sneeze, but if they need to go, I take them. ♥

Hi.
I have four cats one of whom has had persistant worms for over a year and has been to the vets sooo often. I now treat every 3-4 weeks with panacur liquid which I buy from my local pharmacy without prescription and this regular treatment is the only thing that seems to help. Another good medicine is drontal but this costs quite a bit more and is only availablein the uk in tablet form. I would recommend a visit to the vet, especially with a young cat as with most medicines the dose is determined by the weight of the animal and if not fully grown this will keep rising, you really dont want to accidentally overdose.
Another thing I would do is to treat the cat and the house for fleas. In most cases the cat will get worms from ingesting a flea when they are grooming. You need to treat the whole house as the flea eggs fall into all the furnishings and will hatch and re infect the animal.
Hope you get this sorted out soon as if left untreated it can become serious.

My vet knows me and in a situation like this I could take a stool sample in, they would test it for worms, and I'd get the medicine. It would cost about $10 to test the stool to find out which worms the cat has and $7 to $18 for the proper antibiotic to cure the cat. You should call your vet and see if they will do this for you. That's less than $30. I agree that if you can't afford the pet, you shouldn't have it but I also understand that stuff happens that you don't expect and you get in a financial jam. But if $30 is enough to break you then you probably are not in the best position to keep the cat and maybe a friend can take it for a while until you are in a better financial position. I'm very sorry if that sounds judgemental. I don't mean for it too. I'm just trying to keep the kitten's best interests at heart. Good luck to you and your kitty.

Okay, so I've been around kittens that had worms before.
This is not life or death--yet. However, it'd be smart to solve the probelm early, because you may regret it later on (the kitten could get sick- pnenomia- sp?).
You do *NOT* have to take him to the vet.. and you don't really have to spend a whole bunch of money, either.
I went to a pet store and got this de-worm powder for cats that you sprinkle on their food. You can also get liquid medicines like this that are friendly for cats or kittens (see the link below).
And they work, too!!! [Even though I'm getting 21098401821098125 thumbs down, they worked for me!]
Good luck, I hope that your kitten gets feeling better. Kitties are so sweet. =]

Your kitten has worms. The kitten needs to be taken to the vet immediately for de-worming medicine.
Sorry, but If you can't afford vet visits, then you really can't afford to have a cat. They need shots, check-ups, and to be spayed or neutered. Having a pet is a lifetime commitment that is sometimes expensive.

Seems like boeafitness.com and vehicle are the only ones here that dont work in a vet clinic..
They are right....If every cat that got worms died if not taken to a vet....Where did we come up with millions of stray cats?????
Get some wormer for a few bucks and follow the directions...It'll be just fine...
Geesh...

Its sounds like roundworm. This is why you need to take your kittend to the vet early on so if there is someting wrong it can be fixed. Kittens need to be taken to the vet for shots, routine check-ups etc. You have to take her to the vet it can be fatal. I am sorry to say this but if you cant afford vet bills you should not have a pet. Vet bills are a part of being a responsible petowner.

You need to take the kitten to the vet. Only the vet can de-worm the kitten at this stage.

You NEED to get him to a vet ASAP, only a vet can properly treat worms. He will have to be put on medicine. My two kittens are getting medicine right now for worms. It is easy to give them and is VERY affordable. The two little bottles of medicine they gave me for them was $18 total. Kittens can DIE from this. Plus, most vets will allow you to make payments if necessary, just explain them your financial situation. Your animals health is their FIRST concern. PLEASE get your kitten to the vet before he dies!!!!
