Bear Grylls

Bear Grylls, easily. Yes, Stroud is alone and, were he in mortal danger, would not have camera men to rely on but, if the question is which man is "more hardcore," the answer is Grylls. He has so much faith in his survial techniques that he will purposefully jump off a ledge and put himself in other life-threatening situations just to demonstrate them! Stroud, on the other hand, once began an episode with a simulated arm injury (which was LIKELY in that scenario) and soon took the sling off because it made everything "too difficult." Grylls starts every episode by parachuting to location and engages in much riskier physical activities. Stroud spends most of his time complaining about how uncomfortable he is.

Probably Bear. He has several World Records, an elite military background, his own island, and so on. I do get the idea that he's going through the motions a bit on his show. For a professional survivor, he sure gets winded a lot.

I think Les is more of a survivor enthusiast than a true professional. He knows a lot, but he seems more about getting people out into the wild than Bear.

In short, Bear is the professor at the podium in the front of the class room who knows everything, and Les is the cool teacher who sits with the students.

Bear Grylls! He has the courage to actually face everyday traps of nature and not see how long he lasts for seven days in a place and communicate through a camera like a wimp.

OK, here's teh brealdown, Bear has a bad *** name, and is always dressed like he just got fired from his cubicle, and in rebellion, stranded himself. he is also never in legit. really bad danger. the only reason he seems less hardcore, is because he's smart, and doesn't get into trouble. the other setback, he has 2 well stocked cameramen, in case he is injured or starves or something. Les, however, is always in trouble, cuz he's an idiot. he does look more hardcore, and if he gets hurt or something, he's screwed cuz he's all alone. so, i'm gonna say les, because he doesn't care that he's in huge danger, all alone.

Just because we haven't seen Les pee on a shirt and rap it around his face, or drink from elephant dung isn't to say he wouldn't do it (or any of us for that matter) On the flip side...just because Bear isn't luging around his camera equipment, doesn't mean he wouldn't or couldn't. I don't really think one survivalist is more"hardcore" than the other. But I do believe the situation that Les is in is more "hardcore." It's a bit more realistic with him being completely by himself for the duration of the show. Just one foot note, I believe that given the survival knowledge that these two men have any one of us would do exactly the same thing that these other men do. (i.e drinking elephant dung, or eating grubs) So my question is...what makes these men "hardcore" their knowledge of survival to know to utilize these resources or the fact that they do them at all?

I don't usually do either/or questions but I just gotta answer this. It has to be Bear. Anybody who will pee on a piece of cloth, then wrap it around his head and face to stay cool in the desert sun is pretty hardcore, to me!
