Use your calculator and enter '5', push the ' / ' and enter 46 then the ' = ' and you'll get 0.109 (rounded of to 3 figures)

5 divided by 46 would be the same as how many times 46 goes into 5. Since obviously it doesn't, a new method of thinking must be employed. The best way to think of this is to put it to a fraction. (uh-oh, fractions!) More like 5/46. 5/46 is relatively close to 5/45, which reduces to 1/9, or .111... However, since you lowered the denominator, the real answer is a bit smaller then that.
The real answer is approximately .108695652
