Is it not possible for an atheist to believe in an afterlife?
An afterlife does not require a deity, so isn't it possible?

The life in our bodies is a form of energy and energy does not die. It only transform from one stage to the next. Also the end of one thing is the beginning of another.

Wouldn't it require spirit though? That's an interesting question. Are you an atheist? I'm a Christian but I've never really looked at it from your angle (if you're an atheist). So thinking out loud...

Does an "afterlife" imply some sort of spiritual life? Is there a way to be an atheist and think afterlife IS possible? Who controlls it? Who created it? Could another realm that we participate in have just evolved?

I'm curious to have atheists way in on their view to these questions. If it's reincarnation, who decides what each person comes back as? People who believe in reincarnation believe in a higher power...

Interesting question...

Cheers
