He may have been in there but there was not a tie. Just leave him be and all will be well. Sounds like this is his first time. You may want to get someone to help you who has more experience. If you're dealing with two first timers (virgins) it may take a bit longer. Your vet can give you advice as well. I just hope both dogs have been checked out, hips, eyes, etc. to make sure they both have a clean bill of health. There are books out there too about breeding dogs.

A 'tie' is when the male is locked with the female and they are NOT separated. After awhile (usially about 15 minutes, sometimes longer) the swelling in the male's peni subsides nad the female's muscles relax and they can separate. It does NOT sound like your dog tied with the *****, it sounds as if they pulled away from each other. Breedings should nto take place unsupervised for this very reason, because if they separate too soon, they can hurt each other.

I'm not going to criticise you for breeding, though I disagree with it. I am only going to suggest that you find another, more experienced breeder in your breed to mentor you so you can learn the ins and outs and importance of health testing and careful, discriminate breeding, instead of just breeding randomly and contributing to the pet overpopulation problem.

You really have no clue, do you? I hope you are prepared when something goes wrong. There are so many things that can go wrong. When they do, if you don't know what you are doing, you can not only loose the pups, but you can loose your dog too. Please, please do more real research before you continue.

But, since I doubt you will do that, go to the following website. This site walks you through everything you need to know. But truly, I hope you reconsider.

It is really nice when the Backyard Breeders let you know right away, isn't it?

People with no knowledge don't deserve to own dogs, much less breed them.

Ooooh, isn't she selfish, breeding her dog to soother her own ego.
