Why send messages through other people?

Guys what is the point in sending messages to a girl through somebody else for months if you're not going to ask the girl out?

I can't understand that kind of behavior.Some people are so stupid and do that every time they can.I think is not explanation about this.However,stupidity must be one perfect reason.
