We spent a little under $6,000, and we were VERY careful spenders. We even hired a wedding planner!!
If you interview and get the best price, you'll be just fine.

We'll I am an old schooler and I only spent $600 on my wedding. Now don't get me wrong I had a big wedding in my parents back yard and even decorated my own arch. I wore a big dress, had invitations made, a D.J., deep pit meat, 2-kegs, 2 cakes more than enough, and decorated my own cars with flowers, also lots of stuff that you need for a wedding But the big help was all the family helped with something, I didn't have to buy much and my wedding is a day I will never forget. So when you do plan on getting married make sure that family helps out with everything it will cost you less. And enjoy your big day.

My husband and I spent less than $1000 on our wedding and we didn't have much help from our families either. We weren't lucky enough to have a lot of money. But we had a beautiful memorable wedding. There are many times I look back and wish we would have had more money, but we did pretty good with what we had. It's hard to be prepared for your wedding. By the time you are ready to get married costs may have risen and you will have to save even more than you though. Plus so many unexpected things like to come up. Planning a wedding and paying for it is a pain in the butt, but it is so worth it.

My entire wedding is costing under $5000. I discovered that by going small I could afford to go big. Cutting the guest list to nothing, having a destination wedding, and not throwing a reception allows me to stay at a fabulous resort, have the dress of my dreams, and spend more quality time with my guests.
My mother planned her wedding in 28 days. They got married in a chapel and had a potluck. I don't think it cost her more than a couple hundred bucks. It just depends on what part of the wedding is important to you.

Im hoping not to go over $5000. I am getting married next June. So, I am buying things as they go on sale. The most expensive is the meal. I am actually considering have the wedding and reception at a hotel. Im trying to find one in the area w/ a garden for the wedding and a nice banquet hall/ballroom for the reception. I figured even if i pay a thousands for it everything is taken care of. Theyll provide the food the place the china decorations etc etc. All I need is a dress my marriage license and a few msall things but for the most part its taken care of.
Good luck!

My family and my husband's family, paid for different aspects of the wedding. I'd say the cost was between 4-5 thousand dollars on my family's end. I'm not sure what husband family's spent. We also tried to keep the cost down as much as possible, but the basics still cost a lot. We had a 'cheap' wedding by most standards.

My niece is getting married later this month. She is the first in her very large family to marry and her fiance is the youngest of a very large family. They are expecting about 600 guests and the budget is $5,000. Their family is musical, my sister sewed the bridesmaids dresses ($150.00 total for 12 dresses!) The ceremony will be outside at their church because the sancturary isn't large enough. Family and friends are all pitching in to help with cake, flowers, music, and food. I believe this will be much more memorable than many that put the bride's family into debt to give their princess the fairy tale wedding ceremony that lasts all of 15 minutes.
Oh yes, the bride's father is also presiding.

It depends on alot of things. I'm getting married in 4 months...my wedding is a grand total of $4k, which is EXTREMELY cheap, but thats just because we are having both the wedding ceremony and reception at the church we attend, a friend is making the cake, a bridesmaid is a hairdresser so discount there, a friend is a professional photographer so dicount there, a friend is a professional soloist so there's ceremony music. Get as many friends/family members to help and it will cut cost. but then again, my sister in law's wedding was $16k. They range from $5k to $500K.....hope that helps.

Our wedding is April 2008. I think the total of the wedding will come up to about 13,000 for 80 guests. Reception is going to be at loch lloyd country club. And Ceremony will be at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Guests are mostly family and a few close friends.

My fiancee and I are spending $30,000 (shudder). But her parents are paying, because they want her to have a big white wedding (instead of, say paying for her college... priorities...) This includes rental for a ceremony and reception site, food and booze for 175 people, live music, etc. It's also downtown in a metro area, which increases all the prices (especially food and booze... fiancee wants a plated meal, and you can't get that for less than $30 per person, and booze can cost $30 per person as well from these places that don't let you bring in your own).

Well my wedding is in December and so far we've spent about $9,300. We're having a very big wedding so I'm sure by the time it's all over we would have probably doubled that number. I'm my parents first daughter to get married so they're going all out and so is my fiance's mother. I guess you can say we're all excited.
