Yes, especially since god doesn't exist and had nothing to do with it.

Yes, it is. But historically, "thank goodness" is just a euphemistic replacement for "thank god", just the way "jeeze louise!" is a replacement for "jesus christ!" Or "holy cow!" instead of "holy s**t". Or "gosh darn it" instead of "god d**n it". You get my drift.

It has always been popular to invoke the name of a deity in times of great stress, pain, or thankfulness. But because there's a whatchamacallit - commandment - against taking [a] god's name "in vain", all these euphemisms have cropped up over the centuries.

Would be more reasonable, in my opinion, to say Thank God-if you beleive in God and therefore beleive the verse in James 1:17 that says "Whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God above, who created all heaven’s lights. Unlike them, he never changes or casts shifting shadows"

The way i see it (being of christian religion) is that all things that are good come from God (as the verse says) so give thanks to God who IS all that is good...But thats my beleif and opinion

I say "Thank goodness." This is because in this day and age, the phrase "Thank God" is not a praise to the one and only God. Its a use of Gods name in vain. "You shall not misuses the name of the Lord your God, the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name." Exodus 20:7
The 3rd Commandment.
Hope this helps.

If you are really thanking God for what happened to you then let people now it. If you are not really meaning that you are thanking God for whatever happened then you need to leave His name out of it.

Reason has not a lot to do with any monotheistic religion.
