It's like no matter how I act or what I do, I will never be liked by some of the Christians here. And I haven't even done anything to most of them--I've even offered some help through a few questions with a Christian POV before, without inserting my own feelings into it.

Sorry if I'm rambling, but long story short: why can't atheists and Christians agree to disagree, without having to resort to name calling?

Probably for the same reasons some atheists view ALL Christians as bad. Some people are close-minded and like to lump everyone of a certain belief together. Thankfully, that isn't the case with all Christians or all atheists.

We can, but not everyone on both sides will
The most obvious question is why do atheists come to the Religion and Spirituality forum when they don't believe in any God whatsoever??
My answer to that would be to make fun of (me) us christians.
example: I don't go to the homosexual/lesbian forum as I am opposed to that. I just leave them alone and don't try to go there and make them mad..

I really think that the atheists are not sure and want to argue with the christians and just see what happens, or maybe they will find out something new.. An atheist that comes here either is to make fun of us or isn't sure of himself...

i dont feel that at all. however if i say i love God i will get many thumbs down just for believing. why is that???? should be my choice to believe what i want to. many call us names. i just answered a question about someone calling christians names. i know many non christians i say that because not all are atheist but still dont believe. that are nice and good people. me personally though i dont think they will be saved. my belief just because you are a good person does not mean you will be saved. however still good people. but nothing against non believers but some things are hypocritical for you all to say. like religion should not be taught. why not. why cant they tell both sides of how our earth was formed and let children decide. and again it goes both ways. i get that all christians are rude or what not. most true christians i know who are true would be nice and not rude or nothing. we are to be christ like. and love everyone even our enemies.

Because they are insecure in their faith, hanging onto their security blanket god (which god is not a security blanket and you cant hide behind god), and need to take it out on someone, especially those who have the bravery not to have a security blanket.

p.s by they i mean the ones who seem to give high and mighty your going to hell abuse, who gave them the right to speak for whether or not anyone was going to a place they dont even truely know exists (because they have never been there or seen its so they cant truely know) which may have been put into the bible by people in power to control people than it acually being real.

because some of them need to feel better about themselves so they put down other people. either that or they have had a bad experience with an atheist in the past (or present?) and are generalizing us all into one group, sounds a little childish either way doesnt it?

this a FAQ. you don't cut it by our standards to make it to Heaven. rejecting God is like denying the holocaust: you make God's death in vain; all those who saved lives are made to be in vain. it isn't really nice, now is it?

but I don't view you as a wretched awful person. I know you're only human. you ain't making it, but God says to "live peacably the best you can with people". I have no problem with you being an atheist, as long as you don't drag others down with you

We do not think you are "bad"!!! We love you!
I am sorry you had that experience. I can't speak for the other Christians you have had contact with.
In the end, we will ALL be accountable. (I believe-I should add)

becuase we see your life style as "not Christ like" so we infer that it is bad. Remember Us xians believe Jesus Christ is good there fore anything else is bad. Also, it doesn't matter if your good or bad. Let me ask you what is good and what is bad. Your def. of good is different than mine. Maybe you believe having fun and enjoying life is good. I believe being good is staying away from satan's temptations. There is no base for good. It only matter if you have a strong relationship with God.

I don't hate atheists, or believe they are bad. I just believe they are deceived. I still respect your belief, but i disagree with it.
