Is the main problem with Illegal Immgration the fact that it is illegal?
I've seen answers to other questions that the real problem is that our economy cannot stand immigration from the issues of welfare, taxes, and etc.
Or are people simply attempting to find another fault in the government?
Why is Illegal Immigration an issue today?

My main problem with illegal immigration is that it is illegal. Secondly, be catering to a group of people that have knowingly broken the law, we are discriminating against a group of people that have been waiting patiently for years to come to our country.

I think the arguments about illegal aliens abusing social programs to be a farce at best and a cover for racism at worst. There are far more American citizens who are abusing these programs, but I do not see these same people expressing nearly as much outrage. I have had contact with many people who are probably in this nation illegally and I have found the vast majority of them trying to make a living and wanting to be left alone like most other Americans.

The real problem at the moment is that our immigration system is broken and not enough of those who want to come here and make a positive contribution can come and fill worker shortages in low skill jobs that most Americans would not work if they paid $20 an hour. The economic circumstances of this nation are driving the migration and I do not thing the "anti-immigration" crowd wants to realize it.

No, is not the fact that is illegal, is about race, is about xenophobia, ignorance, etc. Remember: The first immigrants were the pilgrims, who were fed and sheltered by the indians(original americans), in pay for their kindness the cowboys kill the buffalo and put the indians in reservations.
About our economy , they are illegal,so they can't get tax return, welfare or other benefits (not even fare wages).
And in fact, is a government fault for they don't want to share what they stole from the original americans!
By the way: The first american was not white!

Illegal immigration is big right now because it is currently being voted on in the U.S. legislature. The problem is compounded by misinformation that criminalizes all immigrants by making them the focus of the problem. The real problem is indiustries that have been impoting workers, often legally from Mexico and South America to save money on wages. Illegal aliens do not sneal accross our borders because of the vast social welfare network we have. They come to the U.S., both legally and illegally for work. The conservative talk show circuit wants you to believe that illegals are sponging off you, getting a handout and stealing your identity because it hides the real criminals, American corporations that profit from illegal workers. Corporate America is bringing illegals in, giving, or more often selling them identification and pocketing the profit.

The average Californian household pays a little more than $1,100 dollars per year in taxes toward illegal immigrants. Many hospitals have been shut down and are continuing to be shut down because illegal immigrants go into the emergency room, pull a fake SSN out of their ass and never pay their bill(of course) I've read stories of people being turned away from a hospital because their SSN was already in use by an Illegal immigrant.(scary right?) Mexico(where most illegal immigrants are coming from, although that's bound to change eventually, it always does) isn't even that poor of a nation, they have a lower unemployment rate than we do here, and their GDP is the 15th highest in the world.

It is ruining our schools and services for our own people. I have seen in studies that I pay about $1,400 per year more in tax because of it as well, but if that were all, my compassion would outweigh my anger. However, my children's schools are failing, and private schools of any quality cost about $17,000 per year per child where I am. Others cost as little as $9,000 per year, and are safe, but that would still be $18,000 per year for my two children which I can't afford, realizing that after that comes college.

And meanwhile, our children's programs in public schools (gifted classes, p.e., computer classes, art and music and language for OUR children) are slashed to educate the children of those illegally here. These children have priority for funds because the instant they come across the border not speaking English, they are a 'problem' student that has to be addressed 'first'.

And to the poster above, our people belong here.

The true problem lies with many racist Americans saying that illegals would bring down our economy and our country. They base this logic on the stereotypical labeling of Mexicans being lazy, corrupt, and poor.

They fail to understand that granting citizenship to 16 million illegal immigrants would in fact reduce our tax burden, boost the economy, and pay more money towards our national debt. Not to mention, make Americans work a little harder and become more competitive with other nations.

If illegal immigration is truly a crime then I suppose we are ALL guilty.

I bet the native American Indians wish they had the same legal rights to kick all of us white immigrants off of their land when they arrived ILLEGALLY over 300 years ago. Just be glad the Hispanics aren't coming over our border with an amassed army of over 10,000 fighting men waiting to rape and pillage every town they come across in order to claim the New World for themselves.

Illegal immigration is a farce. All people, whether illegal or not deserve the American lifestyle that we citizens have been blessed with. Have you seen the red tape and bureaucracy it takes to go through just to apply for US citizenship? If you think the IRS is bad, wait until you see the INS.

I'm all for the amnesty bill. If you don't like it, go back to the country that your ancestors came from.

1) Criminal immigrants steal between 30-100 BILLION a year from the US welfare, education, criminal justice and other social programs. So either US citizens are doing without or US citizens have to pay more taxes to cover it.

2) Criminal immigrants deflate the pay scale, this effect cascades across all types and levels of employment.

3) It's population growth we don't want and can't handle. Criminal immigrants have a much higher birth rate than the average American, so not only are we getting the initial hit.. but the future growth from them will be massive.

Then combine the 3: a government which can't fund its programs + low paying jobs + over-population. And what do you get? The same 3rd world sh1thole these people are coming from. I don't really want to live in a place like that, do you?

The problem is that these criminals are here and they are destroying our way of life. They are NOT our responsibility to take care of. Our responsibility is US citizens!

I think it's become a bigger issue because the number of illegals and the problems they cause have increased so dramatically. 20+ million criminals and BILLIONS being spent, that should go to US citizens is nuts! The illegals are so "in your face" about their DEMANDS and their "rights." Sorry but they have no rights. They aren't citizens!

They cost far too much for their cheap labor that only a few people benefit from. I will gladly pay more for a few items then be forced to pay more in taxes.

People who say that illegals pay taxes but don't get them back are niave. They have kids in our schools, they use our hospitals, they get housing, food stamps, welfare, and earned income tax credits (IRS welfare), through ID theft and sometimes just outright openly claiming to be illegal without any fear of deportation.
