The Army Reserve may be deployed when needed. The Army National Guard falls under State regulations and is only deployed as required for State emergencies, not overseas. For those who have served 4 to 6 years and are still obligated to serve the remainder of their 2 to 4 years of enlistment in the Individual Ready Reserve, they may be called back to active duty only by an order from Congress.

Oh yes, they sure do. Current deployments for the army run about 18-24 months including train up time. Just about everyone in the Army reserves will have to deploy at some time in the near future.

They do now.
It was always a possibility, but not a very likely one since it had been so long since we had to activate reserve units. Now a lot of the units in Iraq are reserve units.
Not only that, some people who were in the Inactive Reserves were recalled to active duty to go to Iraq. I'm separating from the military now after 9 years of active duty and I've already been warned twice that I could STILL be recalled even though I don't even have an Inactive Reserve obligation.

Many reserve units are in Iraq now.
Under the concept of VOLAR (Volunteer Army) Reserve units have been ungraded both in training and equipment, so that they can be deployed if needed.
