The very term "Christian" means "Christ-like". If you are truly a Christian you will strive to be like Christ. That's much more than saying a prayer and believing you're going to heaven. James said "faith without works is dead" (James 2:26); he also said "You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the devils believe and tremble!"(James 2:19). This doesn't mean that Salvation comes through works in the least. It is a free gift. But the legitimate Salvation experience is so profound that it WILL produce works

I agree with Fish<>< , the Bible talks about the fruits of the Spirit. If you are not growing in Christ and aren't willing to walk with Him its nothing but a word (Chirstian).
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentlencess and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit."
Galatians 5:22-25
P.S.~
"He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a copanion of fools suffers harm."
Proverbs 13:20
This means that those who hang around foolish people will then BE foolish but those who are around wise people become much like the wise. If you hang out or spend all your time with nonbelieves then it will be more tempting to do as they do which might be a sin. But if you have a group of Christian's that saround you with incaragment then you will be less likely to fall unto the temptations. Though I'm NOT saying to never have non-Christian friend just cheeck that they are not bring you down in sin.
(I can't find the versus i wanted to use, it said something about worshiping in a body of believers was good for a Christian and another that say's, where there are two believers I will also be present. I think its healthier for a Christian to atend church and read the Bible on their own. And by what the Bible says I think thats what God has said.
I hope this helps.

Being a Christian is excepting Jesus Christ as your Savior. The thing is when Christ comes into your heart a change takes place. Christ washes away the old and all things become new. If the person is really saved in the first place, they would want nothing more but to praise and worship God. In less there is a radical change in a persons life, its a pretty good bet that they were never really saved. You can say the sinners prayer all day long. But its when you ask Jesus to come in with your heart. That's when salvation is real.

if you've accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior then you're definetly going to heaven.....
Living as a Christian is the next step and that does include reading your bible and worshiping and praying.... why else would you label yourself as a Christian if you don't live like one? Though there are some consequences when a Christian does not seek God first in every aspect of their life it doesn't stop them from entering the kingdom of God...

So we're saved by works? Or we're saved by grace? What about people who don't believe Jesus was the Son of God, but read the Bible? Maybe being a Christian is more than worrying about who, and how people will go to heaven or not.

A true Christian should seek God in all his/her ways, and that includes reading his/her Bible, and praying on a regular basis.
But, the only constituent to going to Heaven is that you believe Jesus is the Son of God and love Him with all your heart, mind, and soul. That's it. But, loving Him means you read your Bible and talk to Him regularly.

Being a Christian is more than saying a prayer or going to church on Sunday.... for it is a lifetime of deeds that all of us shall be measured. If you think not, then embark on a lifetime of crime, and then, just before the moment of death, confess to God and go to heaven.......really .... is that fair to all you have hurt along your trail of crime?

If you say you are a Christian and really mean it, you WILL read the Bible, at least a little bit; more importantly, you WILL worship God. If not, you are mis-labelling yourself.
Peace.
