Hi There,
i have a big time problem with the eyes. They are itching all the times. At first i thought that it was beacuse i have hayfever, and i'm taking medicine for the last 4-5 days already, so it wasn't from that and still my eyes are terribly red. can somebody tell me some cure, i'll really appreciate any help given.

you need one of two eyedrops...the best one is called Patanol which is a twice a day allergy drop (also Pataday which is the same drop just once a day) It immediately stops the itching. now if you want to try something over the counter before you try the prescription drop, try a drop called Zaditor...it is similar to patanol and it was a prescription drop last year...this past february it became available over the counter for about 12 bucks a bottle.

could still be hayfever there is a LOT of pollen around. Try cooling the outside of the eye like using sliced cool cucumber on the eyelids or tissues wet with icy water and just lay back and relax. Old cure for sore eyes was tea bags. You make a cuppa. put the old teabag into clean glass and add some more boiling water to about half. leave it to cool right down. use and eyebath if you have one and fill with the COLD tea. If no eyebath it is a bit messy but you can use a small sherry glass over the sink. Don't wear a shirt you want to keep as the tea stains. My mum always washed her eyes this way and she swore by it.

Probably too obvious to mention but just in case: The nasal spray hayfever treatments only work locally in the nose & don't help if you have eye-itching symptoms too.
I think some sufferers also use eye drops to help ease itchy eyes, but the antihistamine tablets are supposed to do the job. I find that I have to use a different antihistamine drug each year because the one I used the previous year doesn't work so well. Some of them seem to take a few days of use before they reach full effectiveness.

Maybe your itchy eyes started because of hayfever, but perhaps you have now got them infected by rubbing them frequently? Stop rubbing them. You can now buy drops for eye infections off the shelf, but I would speak to your pharmacist first anyway.
Try dunking your head in cold water for instant relief!

It can still be hayfever, I have severe hayfever (the pollen count was VERY high today) and I am on 2 tablets, inhalers, eye drops, nasal spray and still get no relief, so I hate to think what it'd be like without all this junk. Go to your GP to check it is hayfever and not an eye infection such as conjuctivitis.

I have the same thing. I actually just got it about an hour ago, too. My eye got all puffy and red and it was really painful afterwards from the scratching. You must be allergic to something. Every time I pet my dog, this happens to me. I guess one of my parents are now going to take me to an allergy doctor to get tested and prescribed medicine. I suggest the same for you so you don't have those annoying itchy eyes or itchy throat if you get those, too. One thing that really helps me when I have those itchy eyes is taking a nice cold shower and if I already took a cold shower, I just put my face in a bucket of cold water lol. It helps. Best of wishes :)

Lots of sympathy coming your way - I wonder if you might have a condition which I have suffered from called 'blepharitis' - it makes the eyes itchy, red and sore. You treat it by bathing the rims of the eyelids daily with a cotton wool bud dipped in (slightly cooled ) boiled water with a tiny drop of baby shampoo added. 'Artificial tears' which you can buy without prescription, can be applied as often as required and are very soothing. You may need to see an eye specialist to have the condition properly diagnosed, but in the meantime you could try the treatment because it won't do any harm.

"itch" is the classic ocular allergy symptom. you could have ocular allergies or a contact-lens-induced inflammatory condition like "giant papillary conjunctivitis, which is related to and closely mimics ocular allergy IMO.

there are 2 new OTC products for ocular allergy...zaditor and alaway. it might help to try one of those for a few days. if the symptoms of the itch dont subside, then you'll need an appointment with an optometrist
