well, i'm thinking of doing a spanish course but if i do the course, do you think the grammar would be the same as what they speak in spain. i mean, the conversations that spanish people speak would be different than you learning them. do you agree? in another words the terminology that spanish people use compared to foreigners speaking spanish

I say you should do both.
The course probably won't be EXACTLY as how they speak in Spain. It deffinately won't teach your their slang. However, it'll deffinately help you get down your basics!!
Good luck and have fun with it! =]

It's important to remember that in most languages the grammar rules are followed to a much higher degree in everyday use than they are in English.

No matter what you do, unless you have a natural "ear" and live in Spain for many years, people will be able to tell you are foreign as soon as you open your mouth. Given this, they will find it a lot easier to understand you if you use correct grammar than if you try to use dialect/slang and make mistakes, whether pronunciation or actual grammar mistakes.

Imagine the other way round - if a spanish person was speaking English would you really find it easier to understand them if they added "innit" to the end of every other phrase?

If you had to choose one, go with the Spanish course. Unless your friend is an academic, the odds are that he or she will be able to teach you only certain things, and others not.

If you choose a course, be careful with the "fly by night" home study courses. You are better off enrolling at a community college, or local high school program for adults (usually at night), because they are more thorough and comprehensive.

Good luck, and congratulations(!) on your decision to expand your horizons.

Hope it helps!

There is a film called The Message (in Spanish is "Mahoma, mensajero de Dios), that tells the story of Mohammed. I think it is a great film and could be a good start for somebody that wants to learn about Islam. I really enjoyed that film.
