I put velveeta chesse in the microwave to make queso dip with salsa...and all the cheese did was make a big dome and blow up in my microwave...was that suppoesed to happen??

ummm...the box said microwave for 7 minutes so I popped it in there for seven minutes...now i have a big mess in the kitchen.

yeaaa i kinda gave up on making it...i might burn the house down if i try to attempt it again...and i don't think my mom will be too happy. =|

I always cut the cheese in chunks then add the salsa nuke it for about 2 minutes stir and if it isn't smooth or totaly melted I zap if for a litttle longer,until it's the right consistency.

No.. but this is because what you need to do is cut the cheese up in little cubes, add the salsa and microwave for about 1 min. but keep stirring every 15-20 secs. The reason it happened is simply bc it was microwaved for too long

Cheese is very easy for a microwave to heat and only needs a few seconds. You may have overnuked it.

I'm hoping that you put the aluminum foil wrapper off the cheese first. Then, cut it into cubes and nuke it for less than one minute,, unless you've combined it with chili etc. and then it might take longer. Have fun cleaning!

i dont think it was supposed to happen. try a lower power setting on your micro and check it often. also, try a little splash of milk in there.

No, you left it in too long.....

You have to go slow & mix it as you heat it up. If you overheat it, it becomes leathery & gross.
