I mean come on....what is the draw? Fear of death, childhood conditioning, "keeping up with the Joneses" or do you actually hear Gods voice? (I don't mean "in your heart", I mean with your ears).

Their age is a non-issue.

If the Declaration of Independence was thousands of years ago, would that change what was said?

Same with the Bible. And I was raised an atheist, so it wasn't childhood conditioning. I don't fear death, even more so now that I am a Christian. (Not that I ever really feared it.)

And as a matter of fact, I do hear God's voice. He speaks to me through His Word all the time. Verses that I have read over and over may suddenly "come alive" and speak to a situation I have in my life. It happens all the time.

The books were written long time past. However, they are still very much alive today. God is very alive and part of His creation. It's just that people tend to focus on the bad which distorts all the good. Which is exactly what the devil desires. Following the Joneses'??? Take a look around, the mass is going the opposite direction of the Christian's. What another thinks of me has never mattered for my life is centered on Him, not being accepted by man.

The term aged doesn't mean untrue . History stands regardless of the sands of time . Your grandchildren being born won't erase the fact that you lived . If you read the Bible maybe you will see what the appeal is . The NIV is easiest to read and please always question and look up everything you don't understand . God created us to question and doubt and find out for ourselves what the truth is . Some people are afraid to read the Bible and some just aren't ready yet . None of your questions apply to me . The draw is , we are newcomers here and the world has been around a long long time , doesn't that create an interest in knowing the history of it ?

It has nothing to do with death for me, but everything to do with living. I want to live life to the fullest. My search began because of feeling empty inside. I don't hear God's voice audibly.

Just because something is old doesn't mean it's untrue. Even if you're an atheist you would intellectually agree with a number of the historical accounts in the Bible as they're found in non-Christian and non-Jewish texts as well.

I believe them, because they were written by the Holy Spirit through men. Also, the men that wrote the bible were thousands of miles apart. And also years apart, how could a group of peopel that never met come up with the same consistant store. Also there have been over 3000 prophesys about Jesus that came to pass that are proven by historians.

Dominus et magister noster Iesus Christus dicendo "Poenitentiam agite adpropinquavit enim regnum caelorum" omnem vitam fidelium penitentiam esse voluit. Pay up, sucker! Says the priest, "Hodie mihi, cras tibi."

Mystics are baffled by the obvious yet possess a complete understanding of the nonexistent. Let God establish His dominion of poverty, hunger, disease, filth, death, and silk-clad priests with whips. An advocate makes virtue of failure. The worse the cure the better the treatment - and the more that is required.

Why do you believe in the big bang and evolution? I mean come on...how beyond the realm of the possible is that?? I'd rather believe that a man could walk on water than that at just the right millisecond just the right combination of elements received just the right spark of electricity and life was created and that from that one little blob, all the life forms on earth were created.

Which sounds more plausible?

"Why believe books that were written thousands of years ago by men?"

its interesting that you should ask, as if you dont believe in things that men say are millions of years old.

but to answer the question, its because they had something to say that's better than what you say, on how to live life.
