Some say that it's wrong to sin in deed but others say it's wrong to sin in thought as well (even the Bible says this in a few places). My question is that if the devil is deceiving the entire habited Earth and trying to tempt us by (among other things) putting bad thoughts into our heads then are we responsible for our own sinning or is it the Devils fault?

Satan does not have the power to make us sin. He can only suggest we sin by tempting us, just as he did to Adam and Eve. Only we are are not alone. We have the help of our Lord and Savior "Jesus Christ ! " The one and only man who just like us battled against temptation, yet overcame it! He is the only man who is without sin. Yet He paid the price for " All Sin. " It is His Blood that washes away our Sin and makes us White as Snow! When Satan suggests something to us and tempts us, we need not to to entertain those thoughts. For it is then that the battle against the Enemy becomes our own. And that's when we usually end up giving in to temptation (sin). Let's face it the Enemy is not stupid! He knows our weaknesses and he knows what we like! When the Devil attacks our thoughts (mind) by the power of suggestion we should quickly reject those thoughts (Devil) by surrendering it all to Jesus! The one who has already overcame and has victory over the enemy! Remember He is The Way The Truth and The Life! And We Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Us! (philippians 4:13) " We're thankful, Lord, that when we fall We can begin anew If humbly we confess our sin, Then turn and follow You." - Sper " Hold fast to Christ and He will give The will to see you through; and if you keep on keeping on, Your strength He will renew." - D. De Haan

Satan does not put thoughts in our head per se. Think of it as the Axis on a bullhorn telling the Allies to give up because they are surrounded, the battle is lost, and that your girl has run off with another man.

"The Statue of Liberty has fallen? That is most disconcerting." - Captain John H. Miller in response to bullhorn propaganda in "Saving Private Ryan"

How you respond will either be looked upon a bravery or cowardice in the heat of battle.

James 1:14-15
...each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

Remember, Satan can only test us in an area where we are vulnerable. The trick is, to eliminate all areas of vulnerability through obedience to God's Word. This makes for a good soldier in the spiritual warfare.

To think a thought and to "entertain" a thought are two different things. Of course if you see a "hot girl" she might catch your eye...but if you then begin to think about undressing her, etc then you are entertaining that thought.

Of course demons are going to throw thoughts at you...you have the power to resist the thought and not sin.

The Bible says we will not be tempted above what we can handle...God always gives us an "out" when temptation comes. He always gives us an opportunity to walk away. It is all about choices.

We are all responsible for our own sin.

God does not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear. He also provides doors to escape temptation. Sin is always a choice, since God gave us free will.
So to answer your question, it is our fault. Satan is already doomed to spend eternity in a lake of fire.

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Not everything is the "Devils" fault I think we give him far to much credit when it comes to mans fallen state. we sin because we want to. So it make it easy for the enemy to tempt us in a certain are. Like if you hate broccoli then it is kind of hard for me to temp you with broccoli pie or buttered broccoli. but if yo like apple then I can bring apple pie apple cider or apple crisp etc... James tells us it is only because we want to sin in certain area, that's the reason we are tempted...
hope this helps a little

We are all responsible for ourselves. The devil is a cheap scapegoat for people who can't accept that everyone makes their own choices.

As for thoughts, as long as they don't turn into actions they just affect your mood. Be happy, whenever possible.

But then, I don't believe in the devil...

The devil is just here to tempt you to do the wrong things, it is your choice to follow him or not.
