why do we give it to our churches? and why do many christians want "in god we trust" printed on it? if there was something i disagreed with, the last thing i would want is my seal of approval on it.

The love of money is the root of all evil.

1Tim.6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

the love of money is the root of all evil. loving money is evil needing money is not. We need money to survive. That's why we give it to the churches. Christians were not the ones to say print in God we trust on the monies. How can you not think that maybe it was the enemy himself to mess with peoples minds.

People too often misquote this scripture! Here is the complete verse: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." I Timothy 10 (NIV)

I don't know of *many* born-again Christians who do not know the complete quote!

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
1 Timothy 6:10

I think the verse says it all. Love of money is evil. Money itself has no power.

Why Christians want "In God we trust" on our money is a mystery to me. My walk with Christ is mine and cannot be reflected on a dollar bill. But don't ask me not to say "One nation, under God" in my pledge. You don't have to say it, but you won't stop me from saying it.

I think too many people, especially Christians are mislead to believe that money is evil. It is not money, but the love of money that is the root of evil. If we spend all of our time trying to build a kingdom of wealth here on earth, but none or not enough time building our relationship with God, who promises eternity, we will go to hell. Even if you don't believe in heaven or hell, think about this....What will you do with all of your earthly possessions when you die? Christians can be rich, but they can't take their eyes off God.

That's bullshit. Neither money nor the love of money is the root of all evil. Evil existed long before money was invented. If anything could be called the root of all evil, it would probably be inequality.

It all boils down to idolatry...anything or anyone you put before God in your life is an idol. Money can be an idol, or anything else you chose. It is a heart issue and that is what Jesus was getting at.
