Religion doesn't rape the mind. Evolution might since it is theories, assumptions, guesses and created mathematics. It is man's attempt to see how far away from God can he get. It should be a crime to lie to our children in school though and teach millions and billions of years like someone knew the truth back then. Should be a crime to lie to our children about Lucy, Piltdown Man. Nebraska Man, etc. This is some more evolutionists created science.

No. It has no legal base.
Children can grow up and make a choice whether to follow what they were taught or to find the truth on their own.
Most religious practices poses no harm to children UNLESS it is a direct endangerment of the child. Such as...human sacrifce, child molestation, sending children on to do harm against others etc.
But that was a nice try. Who turned you away from religion? Was it forced on you?
God doesn't call you to have religion. You can have spirituality and still have peace of mind.

I wouldn't describe it as raping the mind. It is a mixture of brainwashing and willful self-delusion. But all the religions want to claim the kids for their own while they're still impressionable. How can a child have beliefs anyway? People underestimate the child's willingess to please parents and mentors, they say what their parents want them to hear, are rewarded for it which reinforces the behaviour. Its not criminal now, but maybe one day it will be

How exactly is religion "raping the mind?" that is a very narrow minded and generalized statement.
I happen to have faith in God, but do not consider it any sort of raping of my mind.
I still use my mind and heart unlike some people.

There are plenty of ministers and priests who raped more than the mind of the children. My old parish priest comes up for parole every year. The parole board listens to those he raped and sends him back to jail for another year.
Yes, religion IS raping the mind or a priest could not slip his hand down the pants of altar boys (or anyone else) Vow of celibacy my a**!

Swampy,
Your whole premise relies totally on YOUR opinion. That isn't enough for me - nor for most folks. Try it another way if you can think of one. My opinion? You won't be able to support your contention that religion 'rapes' ones mind.

totally agree with u....
they totally brainwash young children's mind and fill them with whatever crap they believe in,
they take away from these children to learn, understand and explore...
they tell them that everything was made by god,....everything has a purpose........the chold stops thinking about stuff......the child's CURIOSITY CEASE TO EXIST
they put in them the fear of god.....they make the child dependent on the "all mighty devine power"
they interfere with the child's mental growth.
it is a crime against children and their childhood....

Teaching them forgiveness, unconditional love, mercy, grace, honor, compassion, gentleness, self-control, humility, faith, truth, righteousness, peace... I could go on and on. I desire for my boys to posess these qualities. If I'm "raping their minds" then so be it. Rather the Lord brain-washing them then the secular world.
