i am a 16 year old girl. i weigh 149 pounds and i am 5'8
i would like to lose some weight how many calories should i be eating a day?

It is best to discuss a diet plan with your doctor. In the mean time try not to exceed 1200 calories a day - healthy calories.

You are at a very healthy weight for your height! You just may need toning. Try exercising more! Try walking, running, or lifting more weights. Check this site out: http://toneteen.com/. It provides healthy eating patterns, workouts, and good tools. If you absolutely want to lose weight then eat at least 1200 calories a day without exercise and 1400 a day with vigorous exercise. enter "daily calorie intake calculator" on yahoo search and it will give you several sites - check out a few because they vary a little. they show how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight so take off 300-400cal that number and thats how much you need to lose weight.
