Have you had one or know someone who has had one? Can you tell me the story of it? If you don't believe in them, will you tell me why? Also, does anyone know of any resources where I can research near-death experiences? Thanks!

Hi Elliot,

that is a good point, but dreaming and LSD are both things that affect the brain. Do you think that something happens at death that affects our brain in a way that would cause us to experience something like a "near-death" experience?

I believe people experience things when they're near death, sure. People also experience things when they're dreaming, or taking LSD.

Of course something happens at death that affects the brain. If it didn't, then people wouldn't die. People who have near death experiences are usually in situations where they're unconscious and possibly not getting much oxygen to their brains due to impaired breathing and/or circulation. To trust what they see in these situations is more absurd than believing one's dreams.

Back a long long time ago, my dear Mother was in labor with me in the hospital. She is a slender hipped woman and delicate. She had such a hard time the doctor anesthetized her and over did it. She said she came out of her body and was hovering in the corner of the room watching the doctor and nurse work on her. She could hear what they were saying to one another and later confirmed this. They were trying to drag me out with forceps by the head. It was a bad experience but she said she knew she had to live and raise me, so she came back. She is one of the most humorless and sane people I have ever met so I believe she did have this experience.

No i dont believe in them, because it has been noted that pilots while pulling strong g forces, can have near death experiences while they black out, and the brain pattern is the same as the person who is dieing, and is very simply explained as the thing the mind does under extrem pressure and stress, like during a blackout or death.

Everyone has one, just before they die.

If you are talking about the experiences that people have reported after they failed to die . .

Most of what is described can be achieved by curring off the oxygen supply to the brain. If your heart/lungs stop functioning because your body is 'dead' then this is exactly what happens.

Bright tunnels, floating out of body, etc are all symptomatic of too much CO2 in the brain and not enough O2.

a lack of oxygen can cause this.....people with epilepsy, such as myself, experience this as well. there is nothing supernatural about it.
