Seems like that might bum him out a bit, kinda defeating the point of eternal bliss.

Wow, so you think that forgetting everyone you ever loved is the preferable option?

Earlier today, a nice Christian explained that god will keep you from seeing people in hell.

Think of it like spiritual prozac, or a frontal lobotomy!

Doesn't it make you HAPPY?!?!?!

Great question. We can only know that God will wipe away every tear, and that life in Heaven will be happy no matter what. There are lots of sad things in the world, and indeed the final resting place of some souls could be Hell. But those saved will be happy in Heaven.

I would imagine that Heaven will be so great that you would quickly forget anyone not there.

Your question also brings up another point - about how in Heaven there really are no families or spouses as there are on Earth. It is well established that according to the Bible you do not stay married in Heaven. You do not keep the same partners that you had on Earth. Therefore, I would think that you do not have siblings as you did on Earth. You will have an entirely new life - neither male nor female (in Christ), not constrained by an Earthly body, not part of the same family or social group.

So I guess I would just say 'don't worry', God will sort it all out.

No true Christian brother could be happy in heaven if you were really rotting in hell for eternity. Thank God that NO ONE will be rotting in hell for eternity.

God does not promise eternal life to those who reject Him. No where in the Bible does God promise immortality to the unrighteous.

You would have to have eternal life in order to spend eternity in hell and there is no such promise in the Bible. In fact, even hell is going to be destroyed according to the Bible.

All who refuse to let God change their characters in preparation for heaven will perish in the lake of fire which does not burn forever.

Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Your Christian brother won't be unhappy about you burning in hell because you won't be in hell.

Death means death. A total cessation of life.

I do not think we "forget" those we know on earth, that makes little sense in light of the fact that we will reign with Jesus at the end of times. But I do believe that the power of God to comfort is great. Even here on earth His Ability to comfort us helps us get over the death of a loved one weather they are a believer or not so I would suppose that the same is true in heaven but even more so. His comfort will be that much greater

I'm not really sure what it will be like in heaven, so it's hard to answer your question. Our sense of reality and awareness and sensations and everything may be completely different from that of the ones in this life. Your brother may have a new awareness and a different sense of reality and priorities, so as rude as this sounds, he may not care that you are in hell. Or he may care, but the joy of being with God would outweigh his sadness that you cannot be with him.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Revelation 21:4)

We will sing a song that the angels can't sing. The song of how we overcame. We won't be bummed for those who didn't make it because the opportunity was given.

- If your friend and you were offered free tickets to a concert would you be bummed if he turned them down and you got to go?

definite. i think of it may wreck my state of happiness in heaven yet think of of God himself, how many little ones will he lose because of the fact they won't repent and are available unto him? i think of that for the period of heaven we could have sorrow besides as excitement, yet this is a factor of existence or perhaps eternal existence besides. It does not shrink the reality that being in heaven will supply a individual greater possibilities for happiness and eternal progression than being in a decrease kingdom of glory. i does not prefer to be consigned to a place the place there grow to be no skill for strengthen or progression for all eternity. because of the fact of this our lives and what we do with them are so significant. because of the fact this existence is a time to coach to fulfill God and what we do here does matter. because of the fact of this it is so significant to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with those around us. because of the fact heaven does not be as dazzling without those we adore there too.

They tell me that once you get to heaven all memories of the people you love on Earth are erased. So you won't remember that you had a child, brother, etc that is suffering eternally in hell.

Apparently that makes it all OK.

as a christian and really even any of the abrahamic sects your brother has been encouraged to convert or kill or disavow you at best with a remote sympathy....according to their mythology he is happy in heaven and knows you not...fortunately they are insane so do not get caught up in their insanity...your brother is fine and some would say not far from you
Good luck
Use logic..... a most valuable tool and religious people hate it

With the bliss comes great understanding and acceptance so he will still be eternally happy.

You on the other hand will be eternally a mess and unhappy!
