Upper middle class, white males are slightly over-represented in the military. This issue has been studied over and over and over. People from the lowest 20% economic level are under-represented. It's a fact.

Because it's the truth. Both rich and poor make up our fighting forces. The majority of those doing the fighting on the ground are the enlisted ranks of the Army and Marines. Most, but not all, of that population come from lower income homes.
I don't really know what it's like in the other services, but officers in the Army and Marines are, for the most part, right there with their men in the combat zones and often leading convoys and patrols. The officer ranks span a wide range of economic backgrounds, with many of the Marine Corps officers being prior enlisted men. That is also true of some Army officers, but to a lesser extent.

The real fighters are men & wemon who have pride & honer no matter of there wealth or debt. But for your question they both are,but if they have the right amount of money they can get out of a war like George W.Bush did back in Vietnam & Bill Clinton

The truth is you have many different people fighting this war. However, the majority of them are poor. Most of them joined so they can pay for school. My husband was SGT in the military. You learn never to believe what you hear and only half of what you see. When you are in the military you have no opinion. You are not allowed to say what you think (You sign a paper on that) You must act and say what they want you to say they prep you . Yes, you have some middle class/rich but it is only a hand full.
