...the term "clicker training" was originated by Karen Pryor, a dolphin trainer who then began to write books about training animals (and people!) Her books changed the way that many people trained their dogs, and today clicker training is used by many thousands of people - not just for dogs, but for cats, horses, rabbits, ferrets, parrots, and zoo animals. Her site is here:

it incredibly is been awhile through fact that I even have study something on clickers. I *think of* the assumption is which you have carried out maximum of repetitions of down, observed via a advantages (ideally, i've got faith the foodstuff advantages is phased out, so as that the "click" is the advantages), that as quickly as the command is given, the canines performs. apart from the reality that as quickly as you utilize corrections, as quickly as the habit is located out, you do not ought to continually supply corrections. it is likewise a similar theory as once you utilize treats for postive reinforcement, in spite of corrections. the clicking purely tells the canines what they did exchange into maximum suitable, assisting the canines to benefit what's asked. education includes back and back appearing the habit to instill that habit in them. you may get to a factor the place while the "down" command is given, the canines does it, with or with out advantages so the clicking isn't continually mandatory. you could not want the clicker each and all the time to have the canines pay attention to you. and that i do have faith that there is a factor of ignoring the undesirable habit. i want to tension, i'm not a clicker person (I even have considered demos in agility). i exchange into purely attempting to answer the question in keeping with what i be conscious of, yet I incredibly am no expert and defer to those with plenty extra adventure.
