'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death..."

Must they be put to death? Or does "must be put to death" mean something else?

Read a little further in Leviticus and you see that you shouldn't wear a cloth of more than one fiber...women shouldn't enter the church during their menstrual period...and that women should always wear a covering on their head...you shouldn't eat certain meats, etc...

I do not believe the Bible is to be interpreted literal...it is a history lesson, and a guide book...but a literal translation of God's word and life...not really...it is inspired by God...but, written by human beings who brought their own ideas, customs, prejudices and education into their writings. Many times they were writing about stories that had been passed down verbally from generation to generation...think how many things could be confused.

This means that being queer is an abomination and that under Old Testament Law, those who did this must be put to death.

Today we don't put them to death but the sin is still just as detestable.

It means what it says. But remember that these laws were written for the ancient Hebrews. It was the way God's people were to be set apart. That does not mean, however that homosexuality is OK, because Jesus said He came to fulfill the law, not abolish it. So, for the Christian, everything that was a sin for the Hebrews is also a sin for them. But God will judge ALL humanity using the same standards.

That was Lev. 20:18, and most translations leave out the "put to death" part.

Back then, it meant to be put to death immediately. Now, because of Christ's atoning death, we don't execute people for the sin of homosexuality.

the main reason for this is because the tribes of Israel were the lineage of Messiah..>God didn't want a bunch of sexual degenerates in that pure lineage....simple as that.
