It's good to see some other reasonable people out there. I get the same feeling when some of the Christians here start calling all atheists immoral and evil. It makes me sigh, and wonder what's going on with these people.

Agreed. This section of "religion and spirituality" should be renamed to "bash and insult". I'm tired too of being called "narrow minded and ignorant" :) I have a master's degree, I am a professional, and I am neither narrow minded nor ignorant. Does anyone realize that studying the Bible takes a great deal of understanding and reading? I don't take what people say as truth, I research issues myself going back the Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic for clarity and precision. What I can't get over is why atheists care what I believe or even why they participate in religious and spiritual discussions. If we're all wasting our time because we believe, then you're doubly wasting your time telling us about it. If you really don't care, be done with it, and go live a happy life and leave us to how we want to spend our time. Just a thought. By the way, I know some ignorant atheist, mormans, Jehovahs witnesses, Jews, Buddhists, muslims, hindus and Christians. Conclusion: Ignorancy does not discriminate.

Generalizing about any population looks silly at a minimum. I wouldn't worry about it friend.
There were just over 220m Christians in the US according to an estimate I've seen, so I have to guess that there is at least one in this group that doesn't fit whatever stereotype is put forth.
Same thing applies to any group, Muslim, Buddhist, JW, Mormon, atheist, etc.

Who are you to call someone out? Why don't you call out your mayor for the homeless, or your senator for your overcrowded hospitals, or your president for your expensive wars that have claimed the lives of at least 100,000 people?
You're a coward hiding behind the anonymity of the Internet and you should be ashamed.

To call someone narrow-minded is making a claim that is indexical to one's own range of thought. Making a silly insult like this is a good indicator of their own range of thought. Don't be insulted, really. It isn't worth it.

I'm sick of the stereotyping of atheists. So, No big deal. I just ignore. I judge a person on who they are, not what.

You seem pretty cool by being so open-minded and you give a good example of different beliefs living together in harmony.

I don't know who he is but, I hate being stereotyped!
Although to be fair the Christians have a similar problem with the likes of "Colson".

Yes, I'm growing quite tired of it myself. I like your attitude, even though we have differing beliefs. If only everyone was like that!!

What's your point?
Like christians, there are tolerant and intolerant atheists. I never claimed to be tolerant of christianity as a religion. While I've met christians I like very much, their faith gets up my nose because it's so insidious. Indeed, most of my questions have been clearly stated with "most" or "fundamentalists" if you were to bother reading.
Today I'm feeling a littel more venomous than ususal as I've recieved 11 emails....ELEVEN....this morning telling me I'm going to burn, why do I hate god, etc. I'm sick of it.
