I don't think people understood what I was trying to say.
"someone who is very important to you, whom you admire very much, and who greatly influences you:
His most devoted fans think of Elvis Presley as a sort of god. "cambridge dictionary

I think other posters are thinking that your worshiping "Elvis", but I think I understand that you mean to say Idols instead of "gods"..
as a Buddhist (an atheist one) I don't believe in God or in Buddha (cause he was a man, not a god... you can't "believe" in a man. I do follow his teachings, but it's a very VERY different thing) anyway..
In both athiesm and in buddhism, I've found that I've stopped admiring the concept of gods (with the lower case "g") because I have to aspire to my own perfection.
so to answer your question, yeah.. I don't belive in God, Gods, or gods..

I reject the thought of a supernatural being that cares concerning the strikes of human beings. A God without desires or "printed certainty" desires no study different than as a philosophical workout. in case you're saying God is precisely coterminous with the guidelines of physics, then i've got self assurance on your God, yet i do no longer assume reward or punishment in the afterlife from this style of being.

Re your PS - Sure Elvis can be "a god" to you. But you know and I know that that's not the pure meaning of the word. Just like "American Idol" isn't someone we actually worship as an idol.
God, in the context of atheism, means supernatural being.
Do I have people I respect? Sure! Carl Sagan, Robert Ingersol, Alexander the Great...etc

We do not believe in deities.
Sometimes people (including atheists) might say something like "Jimi Hendrix was a guitar god", but it's just a figure of speech. It doesn't mean that they believe that JH was some sort of deity or supernatural being.

They think that they just exist. They are just here. They are going nowhere next to a higher power.. or a God. Like they are a piece of plastic or a rock without a soul?? THat is my guess anyway.

Hindus have 30 crores of gods - 300 million deities. Christians believe in no gods but one, atheists believe in no gods at all. Christians and atheists are essentially indistinguishable.

I lack beliefs in all deities. I also think it is a misnomer to use the word "god" to mean anything other than supernatural deities like YHWH or Zeus or Loki, particularly when one is discussing religion.

If I am reading you correctly, you are asking if we atheists "reject the concept of God..." Atheists do not reject something that does not exist. There's nothing to "reject," no concept, no god.
