I don't think you should be nervous, it's a pretty simple procedure and they will either gas you or put you to sleep during so you won't even know what happened until you wake up. Healing is pretty quick and when it's done you never have to go through it again.
You will be fine. Dentist do this procedure all the time.

Unfortunately you should be. I got mine out about a year ago, and it was terrible. I couldn't eat solid food for a week because my mouth hurt so bad. I feels like you have a fever for a week, and after the pain goes away, the food you eat gets stuck in the holes where your wisdom teeth used to be.

As long as you're not going to a surgeon on the street corner, you should be fine. (Meaning, you want an oral surgeon who's done this before - in fact, the more times the better.)

It's fairly common procedure. Just make sure you follow the aftercare directions, and don't plan on doing much that day or the next day....

no, i don't think so. but i guess that depends on what drugs they are giving you...i was nervous at first when i had my wisdom teeth taken out, but after a few minutes on nitreous, i was good to go. most of the time i think they knock you out for the procedure. really, the worst part is afterwards when you are recovering. it hurts. not really bad but this dull ache...maybe i should stop. i don't want to freak you out. it's not so bad. i'm still here. and hey, it's better than leaving them in and risk losing control of your facial muscles. that would suck.

Just remember you are gonna feel like poop for a couple of days. Make sure to get a prescription for pain medication and for antibiotics. Also be sure to follow directions (no drinking through a straw, no smoking) to prevent dry socket. I have had two removed with no problems longterm and great fun sleeping and eating ice cream for a couple of days.
