A dull razor could be part of the problem. But your right it isnt usually the case. It took me years to learn this one. I realized that the red bumps only come because I was shaving the opposited direction in which the hair was growing causing the skin to be irratated. Always shave downwards. Never shave sideways and most of all never shave upwards. Even at the sides between the legs make sure you shave downwards. Always make sure you really lather up to keep the shaver from having full contact with the skin. Put lotion on afterwards and if you follow this you should be okay. All of my friends that I let know this has tried and does not have any more problems. By the way-- You have to let the red bumps heal over completely before you shave. You are making it worse if you do. Good Luck

The bumps are razor rash which can be cause by several variants. I recommend The Art of Shaving for women. It is a series of products that include a pre shave oil. This is what truly protects your skin. Apply before the shaving cream and no more red bumps.

shaving too often will give u those irritation bumps too. u could try a soothing shaving cream. or u could soak the area ahead of time with a warm towel to open up the pores. also consider putting something soothing on the area afterwards. there are alot of products out to help prevent ingrowns too. if ur soap is not right u should use something specifically for shaving when u do. or u could try a better razor. even an upgrade in ur razor will give u better results.

I get the red bumps under my arms and around my bikini area everytime I shave. I use "bikini zone" you can pick it up at any pharmacy or even Wal Mart. Put it on directly after you get out of the bath or shower and evrytime you shave. I have only seen a bump maybe two since I statred using it.. Great Product. Tip: Buy the gel not the creme.

It depends on where the bumps are. To prevent them you can exfoliate before shaving and moisterize after. If the bumps are in your "lady area" there's a cream called "bikini zone" that will get rid of the red bumps. I only know this because I saw a commercial. :)

You may be trying to shave too close. Try not pressing the razor too hard against your skin.
Of course, you could always stop shaving. I gave it up many years ago for the same reason.

There is a product called 'No Bumps' you use before and after shaving.... Also, use baby oil after shaving the bikini area... That helps too.

You are not preparing your skin for shaving. Make sure your skin is wet for awhile, then clean it with soap, a scrubbing loofa or mitt and use shaving cream too. Don't apply moisturizer too soon after shaving because that can irritate the skin too. Make sure your razor and blade are sharp (new), clean (disinfect it with rubbing alcohol after each use), and run it under hot water to warm the blade too.
