My children are in their 30's and still believe in Fairies. It's kind of like the "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Clause" letter. Fairies represent good, happy, mysterious, and loving feelings.
Now gnomes are another matter entirely. Don't get me started on them.

My child who is involved in dance and show choirs has seen many fairies in her life. They are some of the most creative people she knows. So yes she does believe.

My 5 yr old does but the older ones I think act like they don't believe but in their hearts they do. Why take away there wonderment and belief in something magical when eventually they're going to grow up and have to deal with the harshness of real life? A bit of magic never hurt anyone...
