If it's someone I know or otherwise respect as genuine?
I feel happy that they are taking the effort to bless me. It's honoring to receive that kind of attention. At the same time, there's a little quirk of delicious irony inside that whispers "not really."
Then there are the plodding morons who walk around blessing everyone all the time out of bad habit. I just don't like those people.

It's their way of saying a friendly hello, it's appreciated as a kindly meant thought.
Though I checked, it sadly doesn't accomplish anything. Some guy I meet in passing once in a while does that every time I see him. I've kept tracks of it, and the days when he has god bless me in the morning turn out no better nor worse than other days. So now I wonder if he is using the name of god in vain?

I'm not at all bothered by this, in fact, I find myself being a little touched. Most people don't realize that I am an atheist, so they obviously don't mean anything other than to bestow their God's blessing upon me. Those who do know of my nonbelief have never appeared condescending, so I have no reason to be upset.

That doesn't bother me. I receive it as a nice gesture. What does bother me is when you ask a christian "How are you?", and they say, "I am blessed". Then, I don't know what to say. Does that mean that they are better than me just because they are blessed. I am blessed with certain things, but I don't go around bragging about it.

I don't feel anything, really. It's a relatively benign part of the language here. It's only annoying when they know I'm an atheist and are clearly just saying it to be a jerk.

"And Goddess bless you." in the event that they like to declare it, good for them. i might fairly have a hug or a grin. wearing your faith on your sleeve in simple terms seems... cheesy. no longer everybody is non secular.

I believe that is their right to say so. Those that are saying it say it in a positive way and I take it as such.
