Ok you want proof of God!
I am sure that if he shows up in the sky with all his glory to demonstrate that he's Real! Well the Sacrifice of Christ would not have any meaning!
Faith would not be necessary!
Everyone would believe if God shows up in the sky
OF COURSE ONE DAY HE WILL BE BACK BUT I'M SAYING THAT
He would not do it just because you people need a proof!
I know one thing for sure in my life:
"Atheists don't know what faith is all about" they have an idea but, they have not experienced faith, they do not know what it is!

Most atheists are so because they were once religious.
We tried faith. It didn't take.

Atheists know as much about faith as you do if not more. In fact many of them are probably better educated on religion, and have spend serious time as part of an organized religion.
Face it there's has been no clear signs of God in 2000 years, the Bible is full of errors and contradictions, and his been misinterpreted in so many different ways that any message from it must be questioned.
"He would not do it just because you people need a proof!"
No He won't He's coming back to destroy the Earth.
Have fun worshiping your "all-loving" God that's promised to destroy humanity!

Atheist have experienced faith. Everyday that one wakes up and is assured that the building in which they are sleeping in doesn't fall on them, that is an act of faith. I agree with the first answer. A lot of times its because of a bad experience in life that atheist don't believe in God. I don't knock them for it. To each his own. I have come to a point in my life where I questioned it. But here is the kicker.....
Even if I was a good person and lived my life right, I wouldn't want to take that chance that there is a creator out there and everyday I cursed his existence while taking advantage of the privileges of life that he provides.

Hello.
I know what you mean. I too want Dionysus to return after his resurrection!
If the universe offers the human species proof of incredible things, from billions of galaxies to planets, why would a creator want to delude our species? And why would that creator have to be an invisible man who counts the number of hot dogs I eat on Sunday or who I sleep with?
More importantly, how can you show me that religion is not merely psychological? As every god addresses the concerns of the culture that made/shaped it.
What is important about faith? Every religion has it, so there is nothing empirical to show which of the thousand religions are real. If I believed that god was a giant green ogre named Juliette, it would be on the same footing as Christ. There is no evidence for the resurrection. You do realize that the first gospels about Jesus were not written until decades to centuries after his death, don't you? That doesn't sound very convincing for a god who showed everyone around him of his divinity.
But it does sound convincing if you see the Jesus myth as an extension of earlier religious tales about resurrection and creation stories (myth says that Alexander the Great was descended from god and a human woman, and that Dionysus was resurrected after three days).

I see what you're trying to say, that God wants people to believe based on faith. Why would he show so many miracles in the Bible days then? I used to have faith as a little girl, but I found it impossible to keep as I got older and began questioning things. So I've experienced it, but I lost it.

WHY would the Sacrifice of Christ not have any meaning just because God shows Himself? WHY do you need to believe in God based on faith ALONE? That is so completely ridiculous.
The only reason that the people who made up your religion started saying that you need to just "have faith" is because people started to become educated enough to be able to explain the real causes behind things that used to be attributed to God.
And I know exactly what faith is. Mark Twain NAILED it when he said "Faith is believing in what you know ain't so."

Faith: Unquestioning loyalty and belief without facts or proof.
Those who are strong enough to question tend to start researching it. Truth is, I'd say many atheists know more about christianity than most christians. They don't conform to a happy feeling and sense of belonging as enough proof. They don't take everything a christian tells them is true as truth without seeing the facts for themselves.
And while many atheists are venomous towards religious, there are plenty that simply don't believe, and are amused by the illogical forms of debate the religious use. Things like quoting the bible to prove god, or refusing to discuss the violent history of christianity while condemning islam for the same offenses.

How would the sacrifice have no meaning? And, why didn’t it bother God to perform all those miracles and constantly mess around in the world – usually to torment and kill people?
And, are all those people who see images on tortillas lying?
You cannot have it both ways.

Faith is overrated
If god really cared about everybody, he would show himself to everybody, why the mystery?
Now if a bunch of men made up god, what do you think they would have to do to convince people to follow them ? They would need to use the faith card, no?

I had faith in god when I was young, but not now. Now I have faith in myself and that seems to work fine. I don't have to rely on a make-believe character to make my life better. I've done it all on my own.

Faith requires one to limit the mind's ability to function.
Reason requires one to question and be skeptical of outrageous claims.
I'll take reason. It makes life more interesting. I'm too curious to sacrifice reason for faith.
