We are replacing our 5 years old tube set TV and were shopping for a new TV yesterday. All the sets are now flat screen HD TVs. The salesman told us that they stopped manufacturing TVs that have the Picture in Picture (PIP) feature a few years ago when the TVs all went to HD TV. Is this true? Maybe its available on high end models, but we are looking at sets that cost around a grand. If you can, maybe you could recomend some brands to buy, and brands to avoid.

Sadly, the salesman who told you that was a certifiable moron.

For example, all of the following HD sets have PIP:

Here are the facts. Most manufacturers will be phasing the PIP/POP feature out of their tvs. Why? Not because consumers don't want it. People love the PIP/POP feature. They are phasing the feature out because retailers don't want it. It will help keep the cost of the tvs down and they don't want to have to train their salespeople to explain the feature to customers. Although there are still alot of PIP tvs on the market, most companies WILL be ending the feature. Sorry to burst your bubble folks.
