That ended when the gov't started getting involved with the way people parent.

We live in a society that puts as much improtantance on what kids know and go thru as adults. In other words, adults don't get any respect, its even a running joke in pop-culture. The reasons are deep and go all the way back to when kids left the family farm for the big city. This left those back at home with insecurities that they weren't keeping up with the times, and therefor had very little value. Unfornatunely now were paying for giving the future more respect then the past, lets hope that maybe it well pay off.......

It isn't the kids who've changed, it's the parents. They aren't as involved as they once were due to the increasing number of single parent families adding to the increasing number of latchkey kids with no one to guide them but their friends. And parents have gotten more leniant as well. Kids have always had the instinct to push the limits, the only difference is, there isn't anyone enforcing those boundaries anymore........I shouldn't say ANYONE. Some people still do effectively raise their children to be respectful, I don't want to offend anyone.

its when parents feared the goverment more than God, train up a child in the way it should go! when my dad said no he ment it and boy I had better of did what i was told. and he was the most kind and loving parent I know. im not afraid to say no and mean it! we all want our kids to grow up and not go to prison or turn out on drugs.

Ummm that all went away when you could no longer "punish" your child for misbehaving. It disappeared around the time when "time out" became a punishment instead of a good spanking.

It ended when the govt. has stepped in to tell us how to raise our children by sparing the rod.
I don't abuse my children, but I do give them a swat on the bottom when they're misbehaving, after a verbal warning.

I loved those days...
Can I?
No!
Why Not?
Because I said so.
From what I can see from my son's friends...there is NO respect for their parents.
My son has respect for all people. But he was taught about respect.

Uhhhh...don't know about your kids, but that still happens around here. At least it does in my house. And we didn't have to spank our kids to get them to do that either.
