Last night, I was shaving. I did not realize that my bug bite was still there and went over it with the razor. I ripped a small but considerable amount of skin off the area. I did not have a Band-Aid large enough, so after the blood flow slowed, I put gauze over it. I secured it with Band-Aids. Today I went swimming, but forgot to remove the gauze. I went to take it off, and it seemed to have started to heal TO the gauze. My mother suggested soaking it in the water. Needless to say, that did not work. Does anyone know how to remove the gauze without ripping it off? I started to do that, but that reopened the soar. Anyone who has had expirience with this, your advice is appreciated!

Cut away the excess gauze. Put some antibiotic salve on it. Cover with a water resistant bandaid. When you remove it after 8 hours, the gauze will come off without disturbing the important aspects of the healing wound. Continue to salve and cover the wound for faster healing.

The word is sore and you should soak the gauze thoroughly with normal saline or water and I mean soak it so it is thoroughly dripping wet then remove it. Next time use a little vaseline before putting on gauze bandages so they don't stick to the wound.

Try to pour on a bit of peroxide, if not then just rip it off and make sure you put something on the wound before reapplying gauze like neosporin

i would keep soakin it in warm water - it may bleed a bit when you do remove it, but the cut should be smaller, and easier to stop today...
