Difficult to know without more details.
How long have you been married? If she bought you flowers for the first time after 30 years marriage, I think she would be telling you she'd like you to buy her some. If only a year or two maybe that's a normal thing in her family, maybe she did it for a dare. There are so many possibilities.

Try subtly finding out why. Ask questions about where the flowers came from, are these her favourite type of flowers etc etc If you sound pleased with your gift and eager for her answers then she'll probably tell you why she bought you the flowers.

As a woman that has done this i believe your wife is trying to tell you it would be nice if you sent her flowers on her birthday or any other occasion where you would buy a gift. The reason i have done this is to hopefully make him realize that is what i would want ( mainly goes unnoticed lol ) but i than get to enjoy the flowers anyway. Or perhaps she is letting you know that the gifts you are giving her are not appropriate to her and she is letting you know this by giving something you would deem inappropriate also.

Why can't a woman give a man flowers for his birthday?!? Aren't they beautiful, regardless of the gender of the giver or the recipient? Does the pleasure of flowers only pertain to women? Is your masculinity threatened by her giving you flowers (I can't imagine that's the case - they're just flowers after all)? Maybe she's trying to tell you that she can see your sensitivity and appreciates it. Maybe she saw the beautiful flowers and thought of you because they remind her of how you make her feel. Maybe she's trying to tell you how much she loves you and that it transcends typical gender boundaries. It may be that you are one lucky husband. Happy Birthday!!!

My mum told me, "never look a gift horse in the mouth"

Appreciate that your wife thinks you are so cool, so aware, that she can reveal this sensitivity by giving you flowers on your birthday. She must love you a whole lot!

Be kind in this world.

Perhaps she wanted to provoke a response.

What does she usually give you?

Do you think she put some real thought into the selection and was trying to be romantic? Or did she pick a bunch up at the petrol station?

I think it acceptable to give a man flowers, so does she (obviously) It could be that she's hoping you will reciprocate!

congrats! Happy birthday! Flowers are mother nature's jewelery. It was not meant to emasculate you. You are meant to look at them and think of her. Just like if you were to give her flowers, every time she looks at them I bet she thinks of you too.

Speaking as someone that has done this, the motivation might have been as simple as wanting to do something to make the man you love smile.

Happy Birthday!

its really hard to shop for dudes, and girls like flowers, and maybe thats the only thing she can think of. dont take it offensively. she loves you. just next time, clue her in on things u want, instead of her having to guess.
