I'm 5'8", 16 years old, and about 133 pounds... Do I need to lose or gain any weight? I'm just curious because I'm starting a summer league swim team and I'm not sure if should be cutting out certain foods or if I should be eating more... any help would be appreciated.

No...your weight is fine
5'8"
126-139 small frame
136-150 medium frame
146-167 large frame

I got that from the average weight chart that doctors use. I would just eat lean meats ( skinnless chicken, turkey, fish)...each your veggies and fruits etc. Make sure you are getting enough calories because i am guessing they are going to work you hard for the team. Just be sensible with what you eat. And keep hydrated!!!! Good luck with the team!

Actually, I'd say that you sound just about right. I certainly wouldn't lose any weight; I'd simply try to keep the weight at the present level with a good, balanced diet, although you may want to lean a bit toward proteins - clearly you're going to be getting PLENTY of exercise!

Enjoy the swimming!

Thats a very healthy weight to be at. If it is not then I'm sure the people in the swim league will let you know. But as far as I'm concerned it's excellent.

You're at a normal weight for your age and height. For your swim team, just make sure you eat a balanced diet- you don't have anything to worry about if you just eat right and play hard. Have a fun summer!

you sound ok. but one thing. some girl in my school is like 5'7" and shes probably 120 pounds mayb 125. the doctor told her that she was a bit unhealthy. this is probably because she did not have a lot of muscle but instead had more weight from fat. she looks skinny, but shes not healthy. if you are serious about a sport, try to eat right and excersize. but other than that you sound fine

eat healthy foods drink lots of water stay away from junk food. and youll do fine. if you starve yourself you wont have any energy to swim 1 lap.and if your still not sure talk to your coach.they should be able to give you some good advise.

You do not need to lose weight. My daughter is 5'7" and 135 lbs. and she looks good. Five more pounds would not hurt, but not much more than that.

Yes. Most girls my age are over 150 lbs, and we're younger. If anything, you're at a good weight.
